Hi

I noted that now is the season for hairy crabs.

Any recommendations where to try it, of course at a reasonable price.

Thanks.

Hi esmf86,

Would you like to buy the raw one or cooked one? Raw one would be cheaper but most shops require customers to buy in bulk, like half or 1 whole basket (about 48-78 crabs per basket depends on crab size). For cooked one, you may have it at some Chinese restaurants which offer hairy crabs set menu, price about HK$400 and up per person, including a few dishes besides the crabs. You can take a look at East Ocean Restaurant which is quite famous in hairy crabs: http://www.eastocean.com.hk/hairycrab2014.html

Hi, I'm also looking for cooked hairy crab.

Is there any shop that sell hairy crab in bulk (like those available in groupon) that provide cooking service too? Cause i'll be staying in hotel and there isn't any cooking facility available.

Also, I read that if buy from those hairy crab specialty shop, it would be much cheaper and also having variety of size to choose from.

Shops sell raw hairy crabs don't have cooking service... and crabs cooked must eat when hot otherwise no good!

Yes hairy crab specialist shops sell cheaper price and many size & origin to choose, but you have to buy a lot... like wholesale. People in HK sometimes share with other friends to buy in bulk in order to get cheap price too.
