Following the success of their first restaurant, an indoor and outdoor dining restaurant with a beautiful Phuket view, the second branch on Prabaramee Road continues to serve customer’s favourite traditional Thai and international dishes. For the location, turn right from Jungceylon mall’s main entrance, then walk for about 3 minutes until you see the sign Number 6 restaurant.

The menu does not only serve Thai food, there are also some breakfast food because they open early in the morning. The long queue is expected and we wait for around 15 minutes to get a table.

Food are wonderfully decent and cheap, favourites are the raw shrimp with the spicy Thai sauce, chewy pad thai and pineapple fried rice topped with cashew nuts. The garlic bread is basically buttered toasts topped with fried garlic and breadcrumbs, whilst the yellow curry over the fried fish is impressively creamy and tasty. This place is perfect for a quick and cheap dinner!

White Box is an infamous beach-front restaurant set on Kalim Beach, a white sand beach in Phuket. It has a chic and mediterranean ambience where offers a blend of fine French and Thai cuisines as well as some Italian-inspired dishes. The decor is very elegant including a rooftop bar accompanied by upbeat music.

Our dinner starts with an amuse bouche, a chicken curry with mushroom and Thai sauce. The Royal, a seafood tower features Canadian lobster, French crab, fresh oysters, prawns, mussels, whelks and clams; everything is amazing and we particularly enjoy the fresh oysters and the crab which has already been deshelled with all the crab meat stuffed within the crab shell, excellently creamy and delightful.

The traditional tom yum soup is cooked with a whole lobster, coconut milk and has a fairly spicy base. Served aside some steamed Jasmine rice.

We also order a Grilled Surf & Turf Platter: Lamb rack, beef tenderloin, grouper fish, Canadian lobster, grilled vegetables, sweet potato, Bearnaise & virgin sauce. The grilled lobster is exceptionally sweet and tender whereas the beef tenderloin is perfectly seared to rare doneness, juicy and succulent.

Thankfully, this wonderful dinner ends with a birthday treat from the Chef, a molten chocolate cake with yogurt ice cream, serving beautifully with caramel sauce and a dusting of cocoa powder.

Words can’t describe how much we love this restaurant, considering the food quality, the courteous services and of course, the location!

Walking through Fa Yuen Street from Mong Kok to Prince Edward, it is extremely hot especially when it is a sunny Sunday afternoon. Luckily, we come to the end of the street where opened a lot of restaurant and cafes, one need not to mention is the well-known 227 Desserts Tavern. This pretty little spot is with ancient Chinese decoration, lanterns and wooden furnitures, serving mostly Cantonese desserts with plentiful healthy ingredients, such as Chinese pearl barley, black sugar with ginger, different kinds of beans and seeds etc.

One of the most popular orders here must be the green tea pudding with red bean, ice cream, plus a layer of milk shaved ice. Also topped with mini glutinous dumplings and additional black sugar agar agar, I particularly like the wonderfully nice and silky texture of the pudding itself, even though the green tea flavor is just relatively light as in dominated by the milk flavor. I also like the milk shaved ice and the lightly sweetened black sugar agar agar.

Another order is a selection of ingredients with a tofu pudding base and black sugar ginger syrup. It includes chopped yam, barleys, lotus seeds and sweet potato.
The cafe also provides self-serve tea, and today’s choice is a Jasmine green tea.

This exceptional dessert cafe is indeed noteworthy and I’m surely coming back to try my favourite aiyu dessert!

The pastry chef, who was formerly one of the owners of Dessert Gallery in Yuen Long, brings over his dessert recipes and starts a new cafe in Tsim Sha Tsui named as Grassman. Offering not only some signature desserts but also some savouries including a brunch and lunch menu, the cafe is truly designed to relax and chill. Walking barefoot on the synthetic turf or simply sitting next to the window, it feels like picnic but indoor.

The menu offers a few options of small bites and pasta, mainly desserts. An Asian-inspired spaghetti for example, is made with diced chicken thigh, dried chilis and peppercorn. The taste itself isn’t very hot but numbing, whilst the cremini mushrooms are nicely sauteed for a buttery and tender flavor.

Our dessert comes in a show-stopping chocolate dome that has been beautifully decorated with an edible rice paper butterfly. Instead of pouring a stream of melted chocolate over it, we are given a mini wooden mallet to break the hard chocolate surface. We love the sake jelly with a strong wine taste, the creamy Movenpick tiramisu ice cream and those green tea crumble at the bottom, but the milk chocolate crunch is a tad sweet for my liking.

This cafe is great for a lazy afternoon and to add on, the pineapple yuzu soda is very refreshing!

When people say they want Thai food in Hong Kong, pretty much most of us would recommend them to visit our “Little Bangkok”, aka Kowloon City. Needless to say there are many legit Thai restaurants around the area with some locally famous ones while some are more obscure, but I have come across and tried a recently opened Thai restaurant outside Kowloon City.

This new restaurant is a hidden gem at Sham Shui Po whose name literally translates as “Thai Lucky”. Having been told that the menu is created by their house chef who comes from and previously worked with hotels in Thailand, his passion is clearly visible after trying such authentic Thai dishes from him!

We begin with a huge serving of soft shell crabs in yellow curry sauce. The curry sauce is absolutely divine, creamy, thick, not too spicy but a little bit on the sweet side.

Satay skewers then followed, neatly plated and served aside a really strong-tasting and crunchy peanut satay dip. Both the chicken and beef are spot on whilst the pork is especially tender and succulent.
The prawns are halved and deep fried to golden brown in a thick batter, whereas the morning glory is classically stir fried with shrimp paste remaining crispy and fresh.

Alongside all the seafood, we also order a fried rice that has been made with shrimp paste, cured meat, eggs and pork floss, the combination of flavours is delectable.

After all, the price are very reasonable and the portion is definitely more than enough. The dinner is surely amazing and make sure to get a young coconut drink as well!

Speaking of Taiwanese braised pork rice, I think many of us will remember Yuan is Here in Sai Ying Pun. It used to be the only favourite Taiwanese outlet of mine because it sells cheap and delicious Taiwanese street food. And lately, Qing Zuo arrives and opens its sit-down restaurant at Ying Wa Terrance around the HKU area, where not only got my attention for its modest and cosy ambience, but also its homey food, meaning without the added MSG!

We start with a crispy fried chicken bowl with egg and tomato on rice. Needless to say the egg and tomato is pleasantly tasty, the cooked lettuce is marinated with soy sauce, I really admire the use of steamed short-grain rice.

My favourite is definitely the Taiwanese-style braised pork tossed noodle. It has just enough oil and sauce to go with the chewy and thick noodle, the pork belly isn’t too fatty at all. Topped with half of an hard-boiled soy sauce egg, it is just perfect.

We also love the Chinese/Taiwanese omelette, which is traditionally made with a layer of tapioca flour crepe, scrambled egg and some chopped scallions; whilst ours is served with bonito flakes, mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce that resemble the flavor of takoyaki.

Both the bubble tea and rosella tea are very delightful. I’m surely returning for more!!!

I’m sure many of us must have heard about the fact that this isn’t the real Kyoto Matcha An from Kyoto. They simply sell packaged items sourced from the original branch in Kyoto, but the cafe itself does not serve the real food. And sadly, even though Hong Kong has been so obsessed with matcha, the excitement does not last long especially at this matcha cafe.

Located with the Art Mall K11, the matcha cafe is on the second floor next to an infamous Japanese okonomiyaki restaurant. There are tea bags, cookies and other confectioneries in front and a clean and neat sitting area at the back.

The menu listed a few options of matcha or hojicha soft serve, jelly, parfait etc.
We opt for a Hojicha parfait, composed of a layer of milk custard, some lovely rice krispies, soft whipped cream, matcha sponge, hojicha jelly; and finally, swirls of hojicha ice cream, dango and red bean paste. The whole thing is nicely blended together and enjoyable.

The matcha roll cake impresses for its amazingly moist and soft texture. The matcha cream has a strong bitter taste while it is balanced by the whipped cream with a tad of sweetness.

And honestly, I personally like the roll cake so much!

BonaBox is a bespoke confectionery collection, it is also a chocolate master who only uses good quality ingredients and in an artisanal way to produce some ideally sweet edible pebbles in Dolce Vita style. They turn the traditional Italian sugared-almond into luxurious chocolate in ways that are perfect as a wedding gift, engagement or any other loved occasions.

On their website, you can find four options of Bonkers Box, Minxy Box, Goo-Goo Box and mine, Pleasure Box.

The Pleasure box includes Kinkypinky, a simple dark chocolate covered with pink-colour sugar; Blue Tondilla, milk chocolate with almond and covered with blue natural sugar; and Vixen, a bright red chocolate with peanut filling and strawberry fragrance.

I love the baby blue colour of the almond milk chocolate but I adore the peanut and strawberry filling from the Vixen. Not to mention the box is so elegantly packed, it is definitely perfect to be gifted for the beloved one.

Left behind by the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong, we come to Shine for a late lunch.

Shine is located in upper floor of Prince Tower at Tsim Sha Tsui, a spacious Western style restaurant with a chic and cheerful environment. There is a bar, a communal table, and we are served to the comfortable booth seat next to the window.

The new menu offers pretty much European cuisines, but some dishes are found with Asian elements such as yakitori, Japanese somen and spicy shredded chicken. We start with an appetizer, a wagyu tagliata with parmigiano reggiano and arugula salad. The wagyu is fairly thin-cut, smooth and tender, very strong in flavor and is dressed with a sweet, sticky and tangy balsamic glaze.

Follow by a seafood risotto, it has a slightly salty flavor from the squid ink, the risotto is absolutely al dente and cheesy. It is completed with an assortment of seafood including notably large and plump scallops, grilled prawns, mussels, lobster meat and salmon roe. Despite a bitter taste from the alcohol, which is used for a flaming effect, the whole thing is still undeniably scrumptious.

Last but not the least, I opt for a spicy shredded chicken with rice crisps that is served cold. The spicy sauce is so worth a try not only is it homemade, but it has a perfect balance of spicy and sweet, which complemented amazingly with the broiled chicken and cucumber salad. The two giant chicken legs on the side are also excellently juicy and tender especially when they are marinated with ginger spiced powder.

Finally, we end with an affogato for dessert. There is a milk custard for base, a layer of cookie crust, some mixed fresh berries, a piece of tiramisu cake, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzled over a shot of espresso, it is expectedly delightful.

First time being here, my impression is a buffet restaurant featuring the illusion of an inclination, set within the Harbour Plaza Hotel at an area between To Kwa Wan and Kowloon City.

Cafe 8 Degree has recently introduced a Robatayaki-theme buffet dinner offering a variety of barbecued meats and grilled seafood from a Japanese barbecue live kitchen, think like diced wagyu beef, chicken soft bone, sole fillet, shrimp and squid, there are also cheesy rice cake, and vegetables for your meatless alternative.

Apart from that, we have also tried some, from their seafood section, freshly shucked oysters, king crab leg, prawns; whilst my favourite is surely the American oysters and perfectly seared salmon sushi from the Japanese sashimi bar.

Some more to mention are pan-fried foie gras with black truffle sauce on toast, grilled lamb chop, Thai curry crab and other carbs options such as fried rice and noodles. The two I particularly enjoy are the juicy roasted rib eye with black pepper sauce and the delicious steamed crab with egg white in Huadiao wine.

Not to mention their scrumptious dessert bar, it serves an extensive range of European and Japanese-inspired desserts including purple sweet potato mousse cake, black sugar mochi, Japanese tangerine egg white roll and sought-after yuzu souffle, there are also Asian-infused osmanthus pudding, tofu pudding, almond sweet soup, a full fridge of Dreyer’s and Haagen-Dazs ice cream and scrumptious choices of Potong artisan pops from Malaysia. Finally, Their award-winning mango napoleon is definitely a not-to-be-missed!

This dinner buffet is absolutely delightful considering its price and variety of food. Make sure to check it out before the robatayaki theme ends on 30th June!

P.S. The hotel provides free shuttle stationed at Middle Road Tsim Sha Tsui.

Opened in 2012, The Classic 500 is a residential-style hotel located at Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. It is amazingly elegant and comfortable featuring a concept of space to offer some of the biggest hotel rooms in the city.

Our suite is very different from elsewhere typical hotel room, not only is it spacious, but also providing a large bedroom, bathroom, an open kitchen in addition to a spectacular view of Seoul. The Irish-style dining room is also great for us to enjoy a mid-night supper, meaning some Korean fried chicken takeaway, instant noodle and banana milk.

During the mid-morning, we have visited Cafe Masil, a contemporary cafe within the hotel, where serves both traditional and modern Korean beverages and small meals. The latest special healthy latte promotion includes a sweet pumpkin latte.

A bonus is that the COMMON GROUND is just a few blocks away from the hotel, so we manage to reach there on foot, a very Instagram-worthy place that you must visit!

It is so good to be back at Alibi, the chic and modern European bar. While serving not only bespoke cocktails and other Asian-inspired canape, they are launching a picnic-theme afternoon tea in collaboration with a Korean skincare brand – Belif HK this spring.

The afternoon tea set is served beautifully in a traditional wicker hamper that holds a favourable selection of delicacies, whilst many of them, especially the desserts, are infused with different floral ingredients. Starting from the “Belief in chamomile” for example, it is an iced mocktail made with chamomile tea, aromatic popcorn syrup, orange flower water and lemon juice for a refreshing kick.

My favourite savouries are the chamomile smoked salmon spread that is served with crunchy mini baguette; the finger-size crab croquette with a remarkably creamy and garlicky saffron aioli; not to mention the mixed green salad that has been served in an adorable plastic ornament ball, with simple vinaigrette on the side.

Follow by the floral-infused desserts, the chocolate flower pot is basically chocolate mousse with raspberry and elderflower jelly, topped with chocolate and nut crunch; I especially like the almond sponge sandwiched with pomegranate jelly and lemon curd and the French macaron with single origin dark chocolate and a deletable root beer filling. The chocolate praline is also exquisitely made with a cherry center, yet the violet jelly with Hokkaido milk custard is a bit too sweet for my liking.

This gloomy afternoon is completed with complimentary Belif Herbal Moisturizing Deluxe Set. So make sure you book ahead quick because it is limited to 10 sets a day only!

I can still remember a few years ago there was this place called Mr. Bing, which introduced the first jiangbing to Hong Kong. Until it was closed down and settled in New York city, we no longer have a chance to get this traditional Chinese street food.

Lately, a newly opened Jian Bing Chu Fang has come to Hung Hom serving some of this China’s most popular street breakfast. While it is traditionally made with egg, sweet chili sauce, cilantro, scallion and Chinese fried dough, they are now doing savoury crepes out of the box, such as spicy chicken, peking roasted duck, Taiwan sausage, as well as a few special drinks and desserts.

Made upon order, the jianbing starts with a spread of thick batter on the paddle, then an egg is cracked onto its, topped with finely chopped scallions, meat fillings, and is folded in half with hoisin sauce on the back to taste. It is packed in a paper bag for you to eat on the go.

The cumin lamb jianbing has a notable chili sauce, with strong cumin flavor and gamy taste from the lamb. The extra fried breadstick added is no longer crunchy when serve. Similarly, the roasted duck jianbing is also made with a mungbean flour batter, but it is indeed lacking flavor as there are not enough Hoisin sauce and roasted duck meat.

I have heard that people queued at least half an hour for this jianbing, but honestly, I don’t think this crepe is worth the time.

Chirashi, which also known as Chirashizushi sometimes, is probably one of our new food obsessions in Hong Kong. I like such kind of Japanese cuisine because it is traditionally a bowl of sushi rice scattered with cubed sashimi, meaning I can eat a variety of raw fish and vegetables at the same time.

Last week, I was walking along Lockhart Road in Causeway Bay and passed by this new donburi restaurant where instantly caught my attention – SUPERDON. It has a simple, modern and beautiful ambience, and most importantly, a bar seating that I adore.

The menu serves a vast majority of chirashi don including sea urchin with salmon roe, minced toro; donburi including tempura, grilled eel and pork cutlet with egg on rice. No worries, there are also a ton of other types of fresh fish to build your own kind of don.

Our lunch set comes with a simple salad with cubed tofu and sesame dressing, a miso soup with kelp and tofu puff. The Hokkaido sashimi don includes hamachi, salmon roe, and a piece of crab leg, we particularly enjoy the creamy sea urchin, thick and fatty toro and the scallop that has been slightly cured by the lemon slices that served along.

My favourite is the A5 wagyu beef sashimi don sourced from Kumamoto, slightly seared, unbelievably fatty, hearty and heavenly that would melt smoothly in the mouth. It is completed with a raw Japanese egg yolk, which is perfect as you poke and mix it with the rice.

The portion is considered more than enough for me, very inexpensive at lunch and trust me, the wagyu beef chirashi is going to satisfy all sashimi cravers, highly recommended!

It has been a long time since I came to Tin Shui Wai to visit my sister, who used to live around this area. Until recently, I have discovered a secret spot for some good-looking desserts.

Idou Dessert, it is basically a tucked-away area with a very spacious parking space for customers to park their cars right in front of the cafe. While offering more than just your standard ice cream and waffle, they are also serving a variety of Hong Kong-style desserts as well as much more such as s’mores with purple sweet potato filling, cheese tarts, oreo milkshake and fruit soda.

We are first served with a new Bailey’s lava cake with fresh fruits and my choice of cookies and cream ice cream. Despite it is not hot enough, the center is still molten with a fairly acceptable consistency. The Bailey’s cream on the side is yet very gorgeous, forming a thick and sweet cream with an intense Bailey’s flavor.

Having told that their Uji Matcha Parfait is a must-try, it doesn’t only nice to look at, it is a combination of my favourite elements. I liked the sweet and crunchy Japanese popped rice, the matcha whipped cream and the bittersweet matcha jelly. We also enjoy so much on the deconstructed honey peach soda that is served neatly on a wooden tray.

If you’re looking for lovely and unforgettable sweet treat experience, this is one of those dessert places you should visit in Hong Kong.

When I first realized that Tartes & Pop is actually set at Sheung Wan, I find it very convenient to locate and I can easily drop by after school for some sweet treats.

The concept of this French pastry shop has been very successful, where is owned by two French friends who make some of the best fine gourmet pastries in Hong Kong. Indeed, the flavors come in a delicious variety such as lemon, chocolate raspberry, orange with earl grey, plus some signatures including coffee creme brulee, sesame matcha and a monthly special peanut banana. I know right!

First, it is the coffee creme brulee. It is his favourite. The filling is a cream infused with brewed coffee, a just-set custard, very rich and creamy. Finish with a perfect layer of caramelized sugar for a bruleed top.

The sesame matcha has always been one of the most popular items at the shop because it is made with high quality matcha powder that gives a rich tea flavor and bitter aftertaste, a crunchy chocolate crust and a delightful sesame mousse in the middle.

My favourite is surely the vanilla strawberry. This tarte combines an excellent buttery biscuit crust, vanilla custard cream with visible amount of vanilla beans, strawberry jelly and the amazingly fresh strawberry compote that has been mixed with juices of lemon and lime.

I love them all and I am definitely recommending you to try these scrumptious and beautiful little pies!

I can still remember how serious the ice cream hits goes when Hong Kong foodies are trying to chase after every single latest invention. One need not to mention is L’attitude, a dessert cafe introducing the concept of Korean’s popular soft serve store “Ruimilk”. They bring in ice cream with cotton candy and other toppings to form cute characters such as panda and dark clouds, which makes for unique treat.

The new branch is set at Imperial Kennedy, a very elegant space filled with adorable elements. You may sit with soft toys or on the bench looking out at the street.

While serving not only the signature soft serve, there are savouries from salad, snacks, pasta, whilst we opt for a premium rice bowl topped with a generous serving of crab roe, two slabs of sea urchin and a piece of seared scallop. The presentation is doubtlessly fascinating, it tastes ordinary, and I wish for some Japanese soy sauce.

The truffle fries are nicely served piping hot, with a little truffle paste on top, and 3 dips on the side. I particularly enjoy the truffle mayo.

And finally, it comes to the most adorable moment – Panda soft serve! It is just way to cute to finish the entire cotton candy. The chocolate and milk swirled ice cream is excellently creamy and smooth, very rich and filled with layer of oreo crumbs, my favourite!

I don’t like vegetables. Sometimes it is because they are not cooked in the right way, or they are difficult to digest. Surprisingly, I was amazed by this vegetarian-based restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Leisurely Veggie is a local vegetarian restaurant where serves Asian and Western cuisines. Think like traditional dim sum, Japanese sushi rolls and dessert puddings etc. During the night, they offer a dinner menu that feature 5 courses.

Starting from appetizers, we love the julienned yam which has a creamy, sticky texture mixed with a delicious sesame sauce. The kalimeris tastes different from what we usually have at a Shanghainese restaurant, without the strong sesame oil flavor, but very appetizing.
While the Japanese hand rolls are both made with alfalfa sprouts, one is wrapped with avocado and mango, and another has asparagus and faked pork floss.

Favourite goes to the double-boiled soup, simmered with healthy ingredients such as monkey head mushroom, bamboo fungus and the nicely tender golden tremel, very heart-warming, light-tasting and flavorful. Also the vegetarian green curry that is served perfectly with brown rice and butter naan, as well as the Chef’s daily special mushroom steak with a delectable black pepper sauce. They are all executed very well.

To finish, we have an egg-free matcha red bean pudding and a pandan coconut cheesecake made by their house pastry chef.

Afterall, I’m so impressed with the spin on every recipe plus the set comes at such good price!

Xiao Tian Gu is the name of a dessert place at Tai Hang. It is a restaurant owned by a celebrity named Ku, where offers some Hong Kong-style desserts signatured in milk custard and often bustling with people during the night.

Lately, they have expanded to serve more than just desserts at the other two outlets, one in Causeway Bay and another one in collaboration with eGG, the eyewear brand, in Langham Place.
The cafe is adjacent to the eyewear shop with a white-to-pink theme color, not so massive but well-spaced and comfortable setting. Interestingly, their food menu is provided on an iPad.

I’m surprised because the baked curry rice is exceptionally good. The rice is perfectly seasoned with curry powder, the pork cutlet is nicely crispy and tender, with a thick piece of sweet pineapple and melted cheese, completed with a soft Onsen egg. The fish and chip is nothing fancy but we like it served with a horseradish mayo.

The dessert menu is plentiful, so we decided to go for two of their recommendations. The souffle French toast has a custard-like center, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. But we don’t enjoy and couldn’t recognize that toffee-colored sauce especially when it is conspicuously lacking sweetness, aroma and caramelization.

The Uji matcha parfait is somehow disappointing too because I simply don’t like the taste of their matcha. While it is served generously, the warabimochi, the smooth whipped cream and chocolate rice krispies in the middle, and the match jelly at the bottom are all delightful.

After all, it is the courteous services and who I am dining with that matters.

Opened just a few months ago, Dining at Murasaki is set inside a hidden area of Sino Plaza, behind a little cafe. While the Japanese name “Murasaki” can literally be translated to “violet”, the interior is deliberately styled with a splendid purple tones beginning from the corridor, the main dining area, the teppanyaki bar to the sushi bar. I really like the nacre dining tables where we start our unusual Japanese omakase experience.

We begin by having some walnut bread and French baguette served with two slabs of addictive homemade bacon butter and truffle butter. Follow by a non-alcoholic aperitif made with blue butterfly pea, lemon juice and soda.

The amuse bouche is certainly made subtle with chilled and silky tofu, shredded crabmeat and a refreshing melon sauce.
Daily-catched sashimi is served over a bed of purple-blue ice along with a playful smoky effect; red snapper wrapped with salmon roe, citrus jelly on a piece of daikon; white shrimp with caviar; I particularly like the melt-in-the-mouth cod fish that has been lightly seared.

Both the lobster salad and tuna chirashi has a creative plating, whilst the latter one is studded with a piece of fatty tuna, sushi rice that is seasoned with tuna oil, egg, spring onion and a consomme jelly for taste. The Hokkaido scallop with green pea puree and crispy sago chips is perfectly pan-fried, incredibly plumpy and juicy.

We also have a traditionally simmered abalone, a homemade puff pastry with sweet potato cream and a palate cleanser tomato sorbet. Hmmm!!!!

For our mains, we ask for a medium rare U.S. beef and their signature pork pluma. The slow-cooked pork pluma seamlessly standouts with a succulent and tender texture, served with two kinds of salt and a citrus mustard, but trust me, the pork collar is already flavorful enough on its own!

Last but not the least, it’s a carb-loaded Inaniwa udon with a clear, piping hot lobster broth, toasted sakura shrimp and a piece of meaty lobster claw.

Most anticipated is no doubt the desserts. Favourite elements included the black sugar sorbet from the water drop cake; the roasted rice ice cream from the golden birdnest; citrus cream from the chocolate dome and the rice syrup plus pear brand jelly from the popping candy.

Final verdict, I truly admire the moreish omakase experience, how it is influenced by French technique and the impeccable desserts.

P.S. The collaboration with VC’s yellow label will also allow you to enjoy some cheese popcorn with comte cheese dip (a type of gruyere cheese) during their happy hour.

My first visit to the D2 Place area was at Greater China Club. Now they have expanded to Phase 2 with a lot more eateries so we decided to check it out for a quick lunch on our day off. Some of these include our familiar ice cream shop Holly Brown, The Salted Pig and a very stylish Italian restaurant – Si Simply Italian.

This new restaurant has a very beautiful exterior, feels contemporary and is so packed during the lunch hour. Offering a lunch set menu which costs a great deal with an appetizer, a main course and homemade dessert to finish; a list of classic Italian food are also available during dinner time.

We start by having a some sourdough with the classic combination of balsamic vinegar and extra-virgin olive oil. Followed by our appetizers, the baked potato cake made with finely diced Italian luncheon meat, crispy cheese topping, very soft and delicate. The crabmeat salad has a great amount of fresh crab meat, tossed in mayonnaise, simple and delicious.

At first I’m a bit reluctant to order a pasta dish because I always prefer protein over carbs, but surprisingly, the penne with truffle sauce is perfectly excelled with a creamy tomato mushroom sauce and the penne pasta is excellently al dente.
There is no words to describe how much we love our medium-rare prime rib. Sourced from the US, it is simply juicy, tender and marvelous!

For desserts, a flourless chocolate brownie is so fudgy, pretty and sophisticatedly presented, whereas the tiramisu has its light and airy mascarpone cream topped on espresso-soaked ladyfingers, which is a tad hard though.

All in all, we really enjoy our lunch here; amazing food, friendly services, great price, and its genuine Italian flavor!

Next to to Meal Top, it is a unique Yellow cafe opened by the famous Binggrae Banana Milk. Featuring all banana-flavored products, the cafe offers banana milk beverages, ice cream, pudding and tart, some souvenirs and body care products.

It is small with just a number of seats, so I would recommend takeaway or just hold to eat while hanging around the food court.
While I like the banana milk shaken with real banana and slightly thicker than our regular banana milk for its frothy texture, the soft serve is obviously icy, silky consistency and tastes exactly like the banana drink. We realize that the staff is testing some strawberry flavored items, so I guess there will be a strawberry menu soon! I just can’t wait!

Look for that gigantic banana milk at the doorfront. And trust me, fans of banana milk will definitely be thrilled!

Situated at an alley at Dongdaemun district, it is not easy to find Jinokhwa Halmae Wonjo Dakhanmari, the famous whole chicken restaurant. This restaurant has a long history in Seoul who has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide in May of 2011. They serve only chicken stew using only fresh young chicken, minimal ingredients including garlic and green onion to give the traditional flavor.

The pot can easily feed 3 people, which is first served in a metal pot with a half-cooked baby chicken, some potatoes and green onions. While we get ready our dipping sauce by mixing together soy sauce, yellow mustard, vinegar and their homemade chili paste, the waiter comes and cut the chicken into adequate-sized pieces and let it boil.

The chicken is deliciously juicy and tender, whereas the clear broth is definitely tasty. Rice cakes are also added, chewy and very filling; kimchi is self-served next to the water machine. You may add your kimchi into the chicken pot if you wish.

This feast is surely satisfying and warm to the heart!

I have been to Seoul for more than 10 times and I swear I have yet tried this local famous toast. While it has been known as one of the hottest street foods in Seoul, it is expanding successfully to Asia, the Isaac Toast in Macau, where is a more commercialized version.

Isaac Toast was first opened by an old lady who had to sell sandwiches to earn money when her husband was diagnosed with an illness. It started at one of the nearby universities, selling freshly grilled butter bread sandwiches with ingredients such as ham, cheese, beef patties, bacon and their very own secret sauce.

A smear of the sauce on the butter bread is just heavenly. Sweet as honey, mayonnaise consistency, this is why Isaac sandwiches are so spectacular. Make sure to grab one when you come to Korea!

Here is a totally Instagram-worthy cake you gotta try in Seoul! Thanks my friend for suggesting us to come here. The cafe is so adorable and beautifully-designed with theme of pink, blue and orange, which also serves a dozen of homemade cakes in big portion. Think about red velvet, tiramisu cake, and their renowned rainbow cake.

It is basically a vanilla cream cake filled with sliced strawberries. The whipped cream is well sweetened, so light and fluffy. In comparison, the strawberry tiramisu disappointed us for it artificial strawberry cream flavor and dry sponge.

Self-serve ice water is also available at the counter in case you find the treats too sweet for your palate.
