上星期日同媽咪,男朋友去 One Island South 食飯,發現 Golden Monkey 同 Pho Bar crossover 嘅一間餐廳。 餐廳樓底好高,有梳化位、吧台、沙律吧同一個開放式廚房 – 即煮越南湯粉。

呢度係自己填點單紙既,餐牌上有泰式沙律、小食、碟頭飯;Pho Bar 既越南河粉、喇沙同幾種泰式飲品,例如泰式奶茶同珍多冰。

我叫咗一份「泰式海南雞飯」。同新加坡既唔同,唔係配黑醬油,而係雞飯醬。泰式雞飯配黄色同粒粒分明既有味雞油飯、炸蒜粒、芫荽;雞肉好嫩滑,分別係雞腿同雞胸部分。雞皮下既脂肪亦唔算多,值得一試。

另外,喇沙都超有水準,可選米粉或米線。湯底非常開胃,椰香味唔太重,辛辣度適中,淡淡蝦米香,質地濃稠。米線亦煮得剛剛好,配料有雞蛋,魚片,魷魚圈同大量豆卜,推介推介呀!

「好耐無同你出街食嘢啦!」…
自從開始拍拖,出黎工作之後,我都好少係屋企食飯,或者同屋企人食飯。尤其是媽咪,以前每逢星期六,日,我都會同媽咪周圍搵野食,行街街。難得今日得閒,又係星期日,就同媽咪近近地渣車去黃竹坑食個午餐!
Sensory Zero,一間我想黎好耐既 cafe。就係因為佢近,所以就遲遲都未去。係 One Island South 消費滿二百蚊可以免費泊車,又近地鐵站,其實都好方便。

呢度係自助形式既,自己去台前落單,付錢,然後等號碼去開放式廚房取餐。推介有我最愛既蛋治。唔係普通既炒蛋,係用咗日本雞蛋炒起既滑蛋。質感好 fluffy,半熟程度而且好滑,蛋香亦比一般既重;至於麵包係鬆厚既,塗上牛油係非常香。

另一份我十分推介既係「三層蒲燒鰻魚滑蛋飯」!雖然唔係好似日本個啲咁一層飯一層鰻魚,但真係有三條蒲燒鰻魚架!飯底係日本米,滑蛋份量就比較少,但都好滑;鰻魚肉厚身,燒汁落得剛剛好,配上紫菜碎同蔥粒,真係無得輸!

好多朋友都會好好奇,點解我生日會選擇食中菜?係呀,其實我好鍾意食中菜,特別係京滬菜。不過今年生日,我決定去「海景軒」,一間我等咗好耐都未試到既中菜廳。
海景軒位於尖沙咀海景嘉福酒店B2層,雖然已經唔再係米芝蓮一星餐廳,但依然非常受歡迎。餐廳以金色同酒紅色佈置為主,平日夜晚黎到出奇地熱鬧,都好滿座既。

餐台上除咗擺咗豆瓣醬同辣椒豉油,仲有好野味既榨菜豆卜。由於訂位既時候已經落好餐單,所以食物都好快咁上台。第一碟位上既係招牌菜「冬坡扣釀肉」。唔係東坡肉,係「冬」坡肉;顧名思義就係用冬瓜代替傳統肥豬肉,做成東坡肉既樣。雖然冬瓜係夏天既食物,但呢個冬瓜菜式真係不得不試喔!

然後有off menu菜式「酥香蛋皇肉」,以肥豬肉卷包住鹹蛋黃再脆炸,非常腍滑;「萬壽果牛肋肉」亦非常出色,肉厚肥美,用汁拌飯真係一流,值得推介呀!另外係手工招牌菜有「欖菜玉珠」,清淡得黎又不乏味道。

當然唔少得最期待既甜品啦!黃金脆鮮奶、泮塘山楂卷、蛋白杏仁露,都是店方著名之作。黃金脆鮮奶食落似牛油多士包住煉奶;山楂卷酸酸的;蛋白杏仁露既蛋白亦打得平均;真係非常出色!

The sourdough toast is very crunchy and is served with two kinds of spread, one fresh butter and one blueberry jam.

For mains, each of them are 2-3 person serving, and first comes the roasted prime rib-eye. It is made excellently medium rare, perfectly pink and rich in flavor, along with a slab of melting butter and creamy buttery mashed potato on the side.

House-smoked salmon fillet is a FINDS signature dish. It isn’t those that would melt in the mouth but the meat is surely flaky, along with the wild porcini mushroom cream on the side is simply luscious!

The dessert selection isn’t disappointing at all. We have vanilla frosted donuts with sprinkles and peanut crunches respectively, banana mousse with shortbread crust and chocolate cookie crumbles with edible rice wafer paper butterfly; my favourite is the Greek yogurt mousse with lemon curd and granola.

Last week, I visited The Joomak at Harbour City again to sample some of their new winter creations. Introduced with a series of warm Korean-style hotpot, there are two hotpot soup bases to choose including a Ginseng Chicken soup and a Vegan Prickly Pear Carbonara soup.

The prickly pear carbonara soup base is basically soy milk colored with prickly pear, not only is it nutrition-packed, it is also made with vegan cheese that makes it perfect for vegetarian. The soup base is very creamy and hearty, not too heavy and of course, very rich in soybean flavor.

The hotpot comes with Hanwoo beef platter and a vegetarian platter, including a big bundle of white fungus over the thinly sliced beef, kimchi cuttlefish and dace fish pastes; kale, pumpkin, purple potato and corn. My favourites are the crunchy crystalline iceplant as well as the soya knot that boils amazingly silky in the soup.

I also loved the deep-fried Korean Ginseng with a hint of bitterness, whilst a soothing cup of turmeric latte is particularly remarkable, made with turmeric, cinnamon, ginger juice and almond milk.

WAALAH! Literally, this is the name of an obscure cafe in Causeway Bay. With an open door setting and a spacious, euro street style environment, we come in last minute during the Happy Hour time, with a glass of white wine. Having said that, I actually ordered a lychee lemongrass refresher, which tastes amazing!

On the all day menu, there are starters and big dishes to share. We opt for a Lollipork, which is basically pork belly skewer, grilled perfectly juicy with a crunchy honey hoisin coating. Popcorn chicken is also very crunchy and batter fried that comes with a sweet chili sauce.

A signature would be WAA! Mixed Grill, which includes rib eye steak with herby butter on the side, Australian pork shoulder, chicken breast, grilled sausages and crispy bacon. My favourite is the steak fajita, served on a hot skillet with sweet pepper, onion paprika, that also comes with typical guacamole, tomato salsa, sour cream and warm flour tortilla.

Opened lately in Wan Chai QRE Plaza, Zither Garden is a Pekineses/Chinese restaurant specialises in making one of the most authentic roasted Peking ducks in town. For our starters, we have Wuxi fried eel, pork trotters cured meat and drunken chicken. The fried eel is incredibly crunchy with a sweet and tangy sticky sauce, whilst the drunken chicken is very tender with a strong Huadiao wine flavor.

The signature roasted peking duck is exceptionally juicy and crispy, because it is first air-dried, frozen, and then undergoes a second air-dry process before being roasted in the oven. The Chef will carve around 10 pieces of duck skin, and the rest are around 108 pieces of duck meat with skin.

Served with cucumber, leeks, honeydew melon and ordinary sweet bean sauce; they also provide us with a homemade honey plum sauce and caster sugar. The duck skin is so delicious when dipped in caster sugar.

The tossed noodle is also fragrant but a bit too soft for my liking, while the steamed xiao long bao has a relatively thick wrapper. After all, the roasted Peking duck is very remarkable and worthy considering it is just $300HKD for five catty.

日式梳乎厘鬆餅

今期出咗四款新味道,全部都係老闆嘔心瀝血嘅作品。除咗原味梳乎厘之外,有士多啤梨白朱古力、提拉米蘇抹茶,同焦糖燉蛋味。士多啤梨白朱古力嘅醬有明顯嘅士多啤梨味,食落似食緊士多啤梨百力滋嘅味道,帶微微酸,可見有少許果肉,但白朱古力味可以更明顯;而提拉米蘇嘅醬就用上忌廉芝士,咖啡粉,冇落酒做成。當然,兩者嘅班戟底同原味一樣,介乎鬆軟厚實之間,帶有好香嘅蛋香,似港式雞蛋仔嘅味道,亦都係我鍾意佢地嘅地方。

We started off with a red prawn linguine! The pasta sauce is phenomenal made by blending together prawn shells and the rest of its oil, giving a rich and intense prawn flavor. The linguine pasta is made excellently al dente, cooked nicely with cherry tomatoes and sliced button mushrooms, whilst the red prawn itself is super large in size and very meaty.

While the aftertaste from the red prawn is remarkably delicious, another signature at BRICK LANE impresses me even more – Beer Can Chicken! Roasted over a beer can, the steam from the beer cooks the inside of the whole chicken, which makes it juicy and succulent.

Served in the classic three-tier stand, the British Afternoon Tea first includes a list of their signature tailor-made Wedgwood specialty teas. I asked for a Ginger Garden, which is a fresh fruit iced tea served with fresh mint and lychee.

The list of new appetizers on the menu includes a beef carpaccio, which I believe they have used Korean beef and presented in an Italian way. The beef flavor could be stronger while topped with arugula, sliced onion and croutons. Another is a sharing portion 10 inches thin crust pizza, with a very crunchy edges, tomato sauce, melted cheese and chopped beef marinated in bulgogi sauce.

A popular dish on the menu is a bibimbap with smoked salmon and black truffle. The lava egg is not runny but the rice is nice to toss with carrot and cucumber shreds, pumpkin puree, nori and most importantly, the flavorful, spicy and delicious bibimbap sauce.

Eventually I’m so looking forward to this bingsu because it is filled with a deliberate amount of oreo cookie crumbs. And seriously, it’s full of oreo and mini marshmallow, a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and the ice base is very rich in chocolate flavor.

An amuse bouche is served and it is winter melon cubes with a Chinese plum and vinegar marinate. Duck web is always my favourite among all other expensive “high class” Cantonese dishes, especially when it is prepared with the Hong-Kong-style abalone sauce. This is definitely delicious so as the abalone which is braised amazingly soft and tender.

Another loved dish is this stir-fried egg white with shredded crabmeat and toasted pine nuts, the egg white itself is indeed fluffy while the prawns are super large and crunchy, firm, crisp with a great and flavorful texture.

One of the restaurant signatures and must-have would be a Mate Tea 4C°C Noodle. It is basically thin soba noodle served with assorted sides including sliced cucumber, kimchi, Korean pear and a soft boiled egg; they also offer choices of meat (pork or beef) to vegetarian. Served aside a herb and yuzu sauce, it is sharp-flavored but very palatable.

The menu offers a good selection of Korean fried chicken, and most of them comes with an unbelievable dressing. Such as an avocado and lime fried chicken, the sauce is thick and creamy with a hint of tanginess from the lime. The deboned chicken meat is juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, thickly battered and sprinkled with a particularly flavoursome cheese powder.

Self-grilled angus ribeye is another recommended choice. Served aside raw shiitake mushrooms, onion rings and cabbage, there are a few pieces of mozzarella for us to melt on the ribeye. The Angus ribeye is sizzled on the cast iron plate, to your desire doneness, it is indeed succulent and mouthwatering.

Finally, a tiramisu with Movenpick tiramisu ice cream, ladyfingers and coffee is very satisfying. I also loved the fresh fruits yuzu soda made with that smoky effect.

Aside from their signature steamed bao with slow-cooked pork belly, we have a new rice burger with homemade barbecue pork and fried egg. The rice has been pretty well flavored with “furikake”, a kind of Japanese rice seasoning, pan-seared and stuffed with tender char siu, arugula, caramelized onion and a runny fried egg, despite the barbecue sauce is a tad too sweet for my liking.

They offer mainly three shaved ice flavors including durian sticky rice and Thai milk tea, but mango sticky rice flavor is surely the most popular order here.
Consist of sticky rice topped with mango shaved ice, chopped mango and mango sauce; the coconut cream on top is amazingly thick and creamy, which melts perfectly into the shaved ice.

The noodle station offers two soup bases, chicken soup and pork rib soup; but my favourite is the traditional chicken and ginseng double boiled soup with a surprisingly strong bitter aftertaste.

My most loved section is definitely the dessert corner with many Japanese-Korean-inspired desserts. A green tea chocolate fountain with marshmallow lollies, green tea cheese cake, daifuku with red bean filling, half-baked cheese tart; some other favourites are Japanese white peach pudding, homemade warabimochi and surely the huge varieties of Movenpick ice cream. Just a few months ago, the popular Portuguese restaurant Casa Lisboa has reopened in Central with a brand new image and concept of “contemporary Portuguese cuisine”. It is basically an idea of reinventing traditional dishes starting from the cook techniques and its presentation, using fresh ingredients to bring old and new flavors together to the table.
I am so excited to try out the pumped-out Portugues brunch on the weekday, which includes a welcome couvert, a few starters for sharing, a main and dessert, in a bright and modern, relaxing but a bit packed environment.

House Marinated Portuguese Olives & Pate with Bread

Beginning with a cold crab salad with toast, it is in fact a delicious mix of poached crabmeat, mayonnaise, onion and celery. There are also beetroot salad with chopped carrot, crumbled goat cheese with honey vinaigrette; a cold Gazpacho; and grilled juicy octopus in garlic, coriander and green wine complementing the rich sauce.

Alongside, the deep-fried codfish cakes are made beautifully golden brown with an excellent meaty “Bacalhau” filling, as well as the plumpy clams that have been cooked in a moreish and thick tomato sauce, incredibly rich and flavorful.

One couldn’t leave Casa Lisboa without trying their signature suckling pig dish. It comes with a chourico baked rice, some chips and a homemade gravy; the suckling pig is marinated in traditional Bairrada style and grilled for three hours, very succulent with a perfect crackling skin, impressive!

A new feature on the menu is a Portuguese sandwich, or burger, looked super cheesy and packed with flavoursome roast beef, pork belly, and a fried egg on top, despite the house sauce is a bit too salty for my liking.

For dessert, it is a conventional serradura pudding made with layers of fine biscuit crumbs and delicate smooth cream; whilst I adore the refreshing pineapple, vanilla and pistachio sponge ravioli with a strong alcohol aftertaste!

Last but not the least, my most loved dessert is the Xiao Long Bao, which is basically a vanilla white chocolate mousse with multilayers of pistachio and raspberry jam, a feuilletine bottom, made in the shape of xiao long bao. A Chinese-fusion churros is generously sprinkled with cinnamon sugar.

We got a huge lotus seed birthday bun to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival. A total of 24 buns including 12 mini and 12 large ones, the former has less lotus seed paste while the latter has a salted egg yolk in the middle. Both are steaming hot, fluffy and sweet.
