To be honest, I am not keen on Taiwanese food because the Taiwanese food you get in Hong Kong is probably bastardized.
The decor was quite different from other Taiwanese joints in HK.

07HEV71FC2E00C791CC2ACpx.jpg
I have never been to Taiwan so I don't know how authentic this is but the variety was good with an English menu.
07HEUS4E5AAD9A0DFB5B43px.jpg
07HEUTDDEFE3C85190ED63px.jpg
The pricing was quite good and the portions were quite big.
Knowing that I don't like the noodles and rice with marinated meat, I didn't choose them and ordered other stuff.
Here was what I had.
+++++
Bittermelon and pineapple soup:
07HEUUEDB252731DFFD3AFpx.jpg
07HEV06FD7DD46A0D5293Bpx.jpg
The soup was clear without oil and it had a nice bittermelon taste but I couldn't taste any pineapple even though there were chunks of it.
+++++
Ribs and herbs soup:
07HEV4BD5A10DEB1871987px.jpg
I loved this soup because it had a strong herb flavour and tastes exactly the same as buk kut teh.
+++++
Black fungus in vinegar:
07HEV2FDA11ACDDCFA51D4px.jpg
The black fungus had a lovely texture because it was thick but the vinegar was too sweet that I can't classify it as a vinegar.
+++++
Crispy chicken rice:
Compared to other places I have tried, the coating is definitely different and it was so much batter.
The chicken pieces were huge and the batter made it monstrous!
Surprisingly the chicken tasted really soft and tender so I think the batter protected it when it was in the oil but I didn't eat the batter because it was just too thick.
It would be good if they could slice the chicken into smaller pieces.
07HEV1C19B5EF79FEC4303px.jpg
07HEV6B3A8856A4B449976px.jpg
07HEVB7F8DA118783998BApx.jpg
07HEVC5BFEBC872AC558EEpx.jpg
The rice that came with it was Pearl rice.
07HEVAC612DF91E6F82724px.jpg
+++++
Salted egg bitter melon:
07HEUWC75370A30D8E05FFpx.jpg
The bitter melon is a must order even though it doesn't look appealing.
It was lovely the way it was thinly sliced coated in starchy salted egg yolk, yet the whole thing was not too salty.
+++++
Hsinchu vermicelli:
07HEV545F6C610BFDE1232px.jpg
The vermicelli was quite al-dente and tasty.
I was expecting the silver thread vermicelli but it wasn't.
+++++
Herbal jelly latte:
07HEUV10C53DC40F55CEC1px.jpg
Finished off with a herbal tea latte which tasted like Taiwanese style tea with lots of herbal jelly in it.

There is a new brunch #justbecause at Aqua which is designed for sharing.
The basic brunch at $448 lets you sample their Japanese & Italian instaworthy starters, share mains & dessert.
At $598 you can indulge the golden goblet cocktails, Veuve Clicquot Champagne and more free-flow options.

Bread basket with creamy asparagus mayonnaise.
02LUZEAC331A07330CF33Clv.jpg
Golden goblet cocktails which you would literally want to put on your head and take a photo!
I didn't do that but someone did.
Normally I can't drink cocktails but the ones here are quite light and you can't taste the alcohol.
My favourite was the Aqua queen because of the cranberry.

Unlimited Japanese share platter:
As soon as I posted this, people kept asking me where and how much!!
02LUZC28ECA22A81C20F4Dlv.jpg

Italian starter also unlimited.
I loved the prawns, smoked salmon, pickles and the mozzarella cheese.
02LUZD31690CE8C741DAC8lv.jpg

Ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta cheese topped with Parmesan and wild porcini sauce.
It was nice and cheesy so it satisfied my cheese craving.
02LUZA5F6C291384E53FA9lv.jpg

To be honest I was quite full from the starters and they were good so you will end up ordering more.
Here were the mains, on the Japanese side there was crispy Hokkaido fried salmon, Wagyu beef skewers and foie gras.
02LUZBB74F11C57258F5FFlv.jpg

The Italian option has huge grilled King prawns and juicy grilled lamb chops.
The roasted baby potatoes on the side were a killer because it was fluffy in the middle and tasty.
02LUZM54AE93E1B924EF9Flv.jpg

The brunch ended with a sweet platter of desserts and the crispy mango rolls and icecream were fantastic.
02LUZLD5552C1D718C9821lv.jpg

The options above were good enough but you can also upgrade your brunch with tataki sushi and burrata cheese.

As the weather is cooling down, I took this opportunity to go Macau to experience the Grand Resort Deck at Galaxy.
8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana has launched a white truffle menu as it is the season for white truffle so how could I not try it.
The white truffle menu has five courses which is available now until the end of January so I suppose you could book Christmas dinner there and spoil yourself with a White truffle Christmas dinner.

8½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana couldn't be a better place to go for white truffle Italian dishes because chef-owner Umberto BOMBANA is hailed as "Best Italian Chef in Asia" and "Worldwide Ambassador of White Truffle".
With a talented chef, it is not surprising that the newly opened Macau branch rapidly gained one Michelin star while Hong Kong holds Three Michelin stars.
bom.jpg

I definitely agree with Umberto BOMBANA that less is more with white truffle and the five courses on the white truffle menu are just that.
On the white truffle menu, there is a scrambled egg with white truffle, risotto, homemade Tagliolini, poularde de Bresse and truffle icecream.
me.jpg

This was such an amazing dinner I had three choices from the White truffle menu.

Started with a good selection of bread with olive oil and sweet balsamic vinegar.
14582351_1220156041341052_15522995484103
+++++++++
Amuse bouche was a colourful mix of Heirloom tomatoes.
The yellows are the best because they have a fragrant sweet taste.
14709665_368304000181111_995738380316704
+++++++++
Scampi carpaccio was a match made in heaven because it had my two favourite elements scampi and sea urchin and the green apple and celery made every mouthful refreshing.
14730466_375260836197670_759682996293861
++++++++++++++
Now to the star of the evening, the first of the truffle dish was Homemade Tagliolini.
The White truffles were shaved in front of you and it was evidently generous.
The sauce made of butter and aged Parmesan (36 months) was full of flavour but not too over powering to go with the delicate aromatic white truffles which had a strong earthy musky aroma that worked in harmony.
14716505_1745484722369821_63811075968535
The Tagliolini was soft yet springy and hung the sauce well, so each mouthful was joyful.
14719346_563849943820084_393171127577555
++++++++++++++
Following the pasta it was poularde de Bresse.
Bresse chicken is known as the best table chicken in the world.
The bird has a white coat of feathers and there are pockets of fat underneath the skin which keeps it succulent during cooking.
Simply the best paired with the best because Bresse chicken has a sweet creamy taste which works wonders with the truffle.
There were two pieces of chicken, thigh and breast but both were surprisingly tender that you would get confused but you can tell by the colour.
14705021_182653798853245_548042555728592

Before dessert came, we had grape sorbet on top of yoghurt foam.
I don't know why but I could taste lemon grass in the yoghurt.

14659260_307588322960075_802528920023859

To finish off, it was Truffle icecream and a warm hazelnut cake covered in white truffle slices.
The icecream was over whelming because the truffle taste was so strong.
14709495_685143174982095_347066918391250
The hazelnut cake which I thought was cake all the way through actually had a runny hazelnut centre.

hazwe.jpg

Lastly we had tea and petit fours which ended the meal nicely.

People who know me will know that I love anything that is colourful and sparkling.
Takashi Murakami's The dream lion caught my attention and I was mesmerized by that and everything else because it was so colourful.
The stairs going up were so artsy fartsy.

14596783_660530320774525_440473257688799

On the upper floor, there is a giant polka-dot pumpkin by Yayoi Kusama.
14719547_362658427412217_311396947851005

Other striking pieces:

14730591_1758609057725478_42544426861293

On the table, the glasses were beautiful and I loved the colourful circles on the bar tables over looking Lee Tung Avenue.

Scanning the menu, it was Nipo-Brasileiro (Japanese-Brazilian) which I am so cool with especially the Brazilian influence.
Started with drinks which were both a nice surprise.
The cocktail choices were all captivating with the use of lots of fruit.
My friend had the DJAPA refresher which had the most outstanding presentation, but from the menu the other drinks like blushing geisha, princess mononoke would be more captivating because of the name but if there was a picture, people would probably go for the DJAPA refresher.
But anyway, people will look at IG these days to check things out.

When you take the straw, the G string will fall on the table.
I had a non alcoholic drink called the Brazilian paradise which was served in an elegant chalice and I put the G string in front so you can see what it looks like.
14727427_1658433164448437_21357464773376

For food, here was what we had.
Started with a juicy pineapple cabbage which was finely shredded cabbage mixed with pineapple.
It was very refreshing and there was a strong fiery ginger taste to it.
14712180_1131607956921948_61352237514044

Then we had the salmon mikan which was a bit like carpaccio paired with mandarin pieces and yuzu.
14714525_292448967821344_264437409242100

The turbot yuzu was a tangy ceviche with a crisp crunch of mountain yam pieces.
14726340_1688039721512914_43049556848284

Next was the not so raw Hokkaido scallops paired with crisp tart apples.
14676759_1205156726216290_74548575941762

The highlight of the night was the bobo.
It was delicious puree with juicy bits of pineapple contained in a squash.
I would be happy just eating the stuff in the middle with rice as a vegetarian dish without the prawns.
14676718_191870957922267_410708676054509

The sun tanned crabs were fun too which deserve a few photos!!!

These tiny morsels have visible crab roe in them!!
20161025_200514.jpg

For carbs, we had the seafood rice and coconut rice.
I liked both because I like carbs, the seafood rice with whitebait and nori was tasty and the coconut rice is a bit different to the coconut rice you get in HK because it doesn't take milky or sweet but it has a toasted coconut flavour to it.
14591965_1784452601802276_61376266309877

14727521_325460997824269_639426051329071

The meat lovers had skewers.
14711848_1610084272630283_71834153088817

For dessert we had chocolates which were rich and the filling was so silky that it melts in your mouth.
14719194_1312203055464946_37496888781438

The sago pearls were huge and chewy, but the taste was nice.
14712354_890841637716991_674859206392047

To summarize, the environment and food were in harmony and nothing was out of place.
I hope they will keep the standards because I am going to go there for lunch again and check it out!

Yum Cha is well known for their creatively cute novelty dimsums.

I went there for lunch and they were serving some scary treats because it was Halloween.

There was a long queue but food came relatively fast.

Here was what we had:

Steamed shrimp dumplings:
02L5U63A8AF1EF6A830E23lv.jpg
The shimps were springy and it was just shrimps inside so you won't get any nasty fatty pork and lard.

+++++++++++
Flying bats wonton:
02L5UAEB9A873F2114C1B4lv.jpg
This was my favourite because I like fried things and inside it was delicious prawns.
+++++++++++++
BBQ pork finger puffs:
02L5U366B0FCFF82CE8BBClv.jpg
This was on the sweet side and it was made with shortcrust which made it crumbly.
02L5U9E0A7E82DA462BDB2lv.jpg
02L5U885216E40BB105E55lv.jpg
+++++++++++
Steamed mummy sausage buns:
02L5UC959636D737FAA460lv.jpg
This was a bit different from the usual buns because it had a sweet preserved sausage in the middle.
++++++++
For dessert we finished with these cute pumpkins filled with starchy red beans.

01SH2OD226174CC6D309ABl.jpg
I was hoping to get the mint chocolate or Darjeeling but the Darjeeling was sold out.
It was pretty cheap for $20.
However when I got the Gelato, the presentation was a bit funny, it was gelato smeared on the edges with a side and bottom that was empty.
My friend who had it from this branch a few hours before me said her cup of gelato was normal.

As I have already tried the bowls at ALOHA, I decided to try the Pokiritto.
20161023_144300.jpg

The bowls would be more filling if your hungry.

Anyway, I chose tuna and tofu as proteins and the veggie section was really good because you can choose lots of veggies and I love veggies.

20161023_144212.jpg

I would love to order a vegetarian Pokiritto next time but tofu is not as costly as fish so it would work out more expensive.

My Pokiritto was really delicious because the ingredients were fresh and the crisp veggies made a difference complimented by the soft silky tofu.

ALOHA has serious competition now, the only thing POKEWORLD doesn't have is the Spam Musubi!
You can also get POKE in Quarry Bay but I prefer POKEWORLD and ALOHA!

I was really lucky my brother took me to the Cotswolds because the Broadway Tower was nearby.
He showed me pics of it on google and I was definitely interested.

It was this striking tower against lovely blue skies and endless fields of grass surrounded by deer.
The tower was a bit like the fairytale Rapunzel.

20160829_021029.jpg

We would have gone up the tower but it was late so it was closed and so was the nuclear bunker but Thankfully there are some photos on Tripadvisor posted by others so you can see what it looks like.

I visited Superior Steamed Rice Roll Pro Shop in 2011 and felt that it had potential because the rice rolls were fantastic.
Shortly afterwards they were recommended by Michelin.
Clipboard01.jpg
Recently went back for the ricerolls because I was craving for them.

I had four different rolls and the plain one with spring onions and dried shrimps were the best.

20161011_180944.jpg
The quality of the rice roll sheets were still elastic, thin and translucent which is good but the ones filled with meat were disappointing because the duck wasn't fresh and the liver was too rubbery.
I consider myself lucky when the meat is fresh in Chinese restaurants but the people here can't seem to taste that it is not fresh.
As I always say, it is so sad that you have to go to expensive restaurants for fresh food because having fresh food is such a basic requirement.

Tried the Pacific Sunshine and Alpine delight angus beef burgers by Christian Yang.

1475050633856.jpg

The Alpine burger was just a common combination of mushrooms and cheese which is expected for such a name Alpine burger.

The Pacific Sunshine was a bit different because you would associate Pacific with seafood and lobsters and here the burger contained apple.

Raindrop cake

I don't often go to Sham shui po but went here because I wanted to try QQ rice one more time before they close down.

Tried Toyosu Suisan because of the fact it has endless queues and good comments from bloggers who know their Japanese food.
Started with the soup which comes with every bowl.

It had a strong miso taste with lots of fish in it.
02JR0X5BD5B248B5799847l.jpg

It was really difficult to choose because every bowl looked good.
In the end I went for the Minced maguro and snow crab bowl with yam.

+++++++++++++++++++++
Minced maguro and snow crab bowl with yam:
To be honest, it was soooo tasty I didn't need any soy sauce.
The ingredients are freshly flown from Hokkaido and the wasabi is freshly grated not the powder.
There were bits of yuzu peel and tomato that did wonders.

maguro eye:
This was the prized Maguro eye that I have always wanted to order and it is hard finding a place in Hong Kong that serves it.
It had a rich sweet taste and it was very gelatinous.

After reading a glowing review on this place by FoodMeUpScotty, I knew this place was going to be good because he dines at the best places.

There is a eight course set menu and the one I had was A harmony of earth and sea.

Started with warm crusty bread rolls which were inside this brown bag on top a huge dried brown leaf.
02J9T44F1E6786D3A02401l.jpg
The first course was EVOLUTION which was scallop tartar with radish, pears and Japanese ginger with a slice of beetroot on top.

A refreshing sweet and cool start to dinner.
02J9T3059CEDB05DA630C1l.jpg

It was then followed by tomato soup which was actually tomato essence. I loved that concentrated tomato taste.

02J9SS12D34CE11FE4789Dl.jpg

Next came SAISON which was presented like a beautifiul painting.
02J9T13D3505F780C479C4l.jpg

It was Saury fish with tofu sauce, aubergine puree and my favourite couscous.

The elements blended well nicely and the bitterness of the herb helped cut through the strong flavours.

02J9T2D521978D564C791El.jpg

The third course was TRADITION.
02J9T0DF81B6CDDE7725C3l.jpg
It was Kimedai, I absolutely adore this fish and it was nice that the sauce wasn't too overpowering so I could taste the lovely fish with the spring onions and ginger.
I even drank the bit at the bottom because it had a brilliant infusion of the fish and spring onions.

Moving on to a slightly heavier course, it was CONNEXION which was lobster and spelt wheat.
The lobster was springy and the spelt which had a nice mouthfeel was in this creamy sauce.
02J9SZ50BAE52A427BFE12l.jpg

Moving on to the EARTH element of this dinner, SAUVAGE was next.
An evenly marbled fat Satsuma beef from Kagoshima served with salt, wasabi cream, black pepper and sauce.
The beef was nice on its own and personally I think just adding salt brings out the best taste of beef.
02J9SX58B035E2B08C1797l.jpg
Before we had desserts, RAFRAICHISSANTE was served.
It was a very sweet refreshing sorbet with sweet peeled grapes on top.
02J9SW418C7956343E833El.jpg
02J9SV9C08F34342490A65l.jpg

It was then followed by POUSSE, a fluffy white chocolate mousse with olive oil which you mix into it.
An interesting dessert.
02J9SU669248CC0CF1DEFFl.jpg

The last course PAIX was petit fours which were a perfect ending with tea of coffee.
02J9STBD1CF7F9FBE586ABl.jpg

In addition we also had this CREME BRULEE mocktail which was so addictive with mini grilled marshmallows on the side.

Can't wait to come again when they have a new menu.

At the beginning I thought this was just an ordinary bar serving food because the menu just looked like the standard ones you find in every bar.
02IFXRA5249822497D4785l.jpg
We ordered drinks first which really surprised us by its presentation.

Dr Healthy (a mocktail) was served with a side of salad that you can eat.
02IFXJ573F5452B6636A46l.jpg
++++++++++++++++

Fantasy place ( a mocktail) was served in a dimsum basket with grapes decorated with blueberries and a halved passionfruit topped with preserved plums.
Adding the preserved plums gives the drink a slight bitter and tart taste.
02IFXSDB4670AA47912A53l.jpg
02IFXNBAD061A1F315F471l.jpg
For cocktails, we had "My cup of tea" which was served with tea leaves and a tea pot.
It had a lovely infusion of elderflower and gin.

02IFXK0E02D64F24D537CCl.jpg
++++++++++++++++
Foodwise, we had 65 deg C sous vide grilled chicken wings with garlic and chili because nearly every table ordered it.

They tasted like typhoon shelter chicken wings with a good degree of spiciness.
02IFXO07BA3251170CED36l.jpg

Next were the Sake US Manilla clams with chili and garlic.
02IFXL15C6E256823C189Fl.jpg

The taste was amazing because the chili was really aromatic and there was hint of butter in it without being too heavy. There is a piece of garlic bread to soak up the sauce but I ended up drinking it because it was so nice.
02IFXMFE7AD391EBAFDE79l.jpg
Last but not least, the octopus with baby spinach salad tossed with pommery honey mustard dressing was really appetizing because the sauce was sweet and moreish.
02IFXI7C7957107387CBBBl.jpg
While I was dining there, I enjoyed what they were showing on TV because it was artistic and about designers and fashion which is more entertaining than other stuff in my opinion.

02IFXPF33DE89EE3446F4Al.jpg
02IFXQB9C8EC2CA94B4523l.jpg
To summarize, I like the way they serve healthy food and drinks with a touch of Modern and Chinese to it.

Saravanaa Bhavan is famous in the UK so I was elated to learn that they are in Hong Kong.
02IC7MEDF3053CED27CAB8l.jpg
Definitely highly recommended because this is the stuff you get in UK.

Saravanaa Bhavan is vegetarian so it is now competing with Branto, Woodlands, and Khana Khazana.

To be honest I haven't really tried the others but I remember vaguely dining at Khana Khazana's WanChai branch.

Anyway, I was really looking forward to dinner here and it definitely didn't disappoint because it is just as good as the one in UK.

I had an extremely difficult decision choosing the dishes because there were so many choices for dosa and uthappam.

Luckily the rice pudding dessert was not available that night because I am going to go again soon with my brother so we can compare it with the Tooting branch.

Here were the dishes that we had:
++++++
Cheese dosa:
02IC7SBE58CF37809074A2l.jpg
I chose this because it contained grated cheddar cheese!
Basically it was crispy filled with delicious melted cheese and you can think of it as an Indian crepe!
As well as cheese they had other fillings and the rava dosa is also good so you can see how difficult it was choosing a dosa!
++++++
Idly Vada:
I have never tried this before so I got the Idly Vada so that I could try both the Idly and Vada.
Idly is Steamed rice and lentil patty patty and it is like a steamed rice cake but savoury and damn delicious!
Vada is a fried lentil donut which I tried the first time and it was so fxxing good!
Strangely it tasted like a light fluffy potato donut.
02IC7OD6D923EE73BB3CC9l.jpg
02IC7N4E1F1A2B6A4023C6l.jpg
02IC7RE4A9A1A65E3EF735l.jpg
++++++
Tomato uthappam:
uthappam is a Rice and lentil pancake and again there were so many damn delicious choices to choose from so I have to dine here again!
Every damn combination they had is going to be damn delicious such as onions and peas, tomato and peas etc.
The tomato pancake was how I imagined it to be, crispy and fluffy with bits of tasty tomato.
02IC7Q5EF1ED3CAA98A272l.jpg
++++++
bagalabath:
bagalabath is kurd rice which is yoghurt and rice.
Previously tried this before at some restaurant in Central but they don't always serve it.
The bagalabath here is so creamy and it is like a runny rice pudding with lovely bits of ginger and chili in it.
I had to be careful of the bits of chili though because it was too spicy for me.
02IC7PF0ADA3F237624898l.jpg
++++++
To summarize, I enjoyed this meal because the items I chose were starchy and tasted like potatoes and I love anything that tastes like potato!

COMING BACK SOON!

I was really glad to be invited by Meyer cookware in Hong Kong to participate in a herb discovery session which everyone can go along and check it out because there is a herb garden with stations where you can create your own herbal tea bags and seasonings for chicken wings.

Herbs station to make chicken wing seasoning:
20161001_151828.jpg

20161001_151820.jpg

In the middle, there are some jars of dried herbs which you can smell.
20161001_145933.jpg

This is a really good concept because fresh herbs and dried herbs are not as easy to access as other countries and people are not familiar that there are so many other herbs you can experiment with.
As well as herbs, a full showroom of their products are available and they also have vinegars that you can try.
20161001_150140.jpg

20161001_150125.jpg

Our first activity was Masala Chai where we learnt about the herbs for the tea and got to make it ourselves.
I didn't put a lot of the herbs but the taste was really strong but the sweetened condensed milk toned it down.
IMG_20161001_1455_14.jpeg

Next we made pasta with Eric Cheung, a food designer.
20161001_145203.jpg

I chose to make basil pasta.

Making pasta was made easy with Meyers non slip bowl and the flexi spatula which can mimic the palm of your hand when pressing the dough.

We also got to try the cooked version of pasta which tasted good by simply stir frying it with onion and adding salt and pepper.

Tried the afternoon tea buffet in 2010 but I wasn't impressed with the service because the staff were stuck up with people who don't have a platinum card as reviewed on openrice.
Anyway, my aunt took me here for my mums birthday and was surprised that as a blogger I didn't know about their curry buffet but then no one has really written about it on openrice so I won't even bother to write about the curry even though I always comment there.
The curry buffet secret is safe here because Hong Kongers don't really appreciate a good Indian authentic curry.

20161111_123311.jpg

20161111_123315.jpg

The staff were still a bit stuck up like before but my aunt said they were part of the Hilton group but sorry I don't know you guys.

Anyway, the curry was bloody good especially the South Indian dosa and coconut chutney which I had twice.
The guy who made the dosas was quite intimidating and he didn't seem to give a sxxt when you complimented his dosas.
It was strange because when he gave me mine it was cut in half but the one my brother got wasn't sliced.
20161111_124750.jpg

It is really good that there is another option for curry buffet as well as Dickens.

Our lunch ended with a delicious rhubarb crumble which was found in the dessert section but they didn't have custard.

There is a famous crispy tofu which is smelly and at Huo Gong Dian they serve a black version of this tofu.
I don't quite know why it is black but it tasted nice anyway, there isn't any unpleasant taste even though it smells.
It just tastes like normal crispy tofu!!

We also had the braised pork belly which has even layers of fat, a popular dish in the East.

I have always wanted to stay at the 5 Star Galaxy hotel in Macau because I just love this resort especially the floating diamond at the entrance and the Grand deck resort which guests of Galaxy Hotel can access.
My hotel room access card was really pretty because it was in my favourite silver colour.

The room was impressive and big with a view of the Skytop Wave Pool.

There is a bath tub which is a must for me.
20160923_181646.jpg

By the bath, there is a tray of accessories which is beautifully presented like a jigsaw containing a sewing kit, razor and shaving cream, toothbrush and toothpaste x 2, shower cap, cotton buds, cotton pads, emery board and a comb.
20160923_181732.jpg

20160924_001929.jpg

In the cupboard are slippers and bathrobes.
20160923_235117.jpg

The hairdryer is a decent powerful one by Vidal Sassoon.
20160924_000521.jpg

There is shoe polish but they also have a complimentary shoe polishing service as well which takes an hour.
20160923_235206.jpg

By the bed, there was an alarm clock which was really useful for people like me!
20160923_182603.jpg

20160923_182558.jpg

The complimentary refreshments was quite good because they had cup noodles, Pringles, teas and coffees.

Went to Lai Heen for dinner which is on the 51st floor of The Ritz Carlton, Macau and the highest restaurant in town.

20160923_184504.jpg

20160923_184637.jpg

20160923_184911.jpg

20160923_184808.jpg

Headed by Chef Bill Fu who previously served at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong’s Tin Lung Heen which achieved two-star Michelin.
Lai Heen is also recommended in The Michelin Guide HK Macau 2016.

For starters, we had conchiglie pasta served in a beautiful white splash bowl.
A great way to get our appetites ready for dinner.
20160923_185827.jpg
Then we had Chilled bean curd with okra in sesame sauce, barbequed Iberico pork in honey sauce, marinated turnip with passionfruit juice.
It was a good balance from light tofu to a strong tasting juicy Iberico pork and the tangy turnip picked in an exotic passionfruit juice helped to refresh your palate.

20160923_191038.jpg

It was then followed by a nourishing Double boiled piths soup with matake mushroom.
20160923_191930.jpg

20160923_192216.jpg

20160923_192025.jpg

Next was the shrimp flambe which was live shrimps immersed in Chinese rose wine before it was set alight resulting in fragrant springy shrimps infused with a strong wine taste.
20160923_193053.jpg

20160923_194752.jpg

It was followed by Simmered garoupa filet with zucchini topped with minced carrot.
A colourful and light dish which is great on a hot day.
20160923_193332.jpg

Before we were served the rice, we had the Simmered winter melon rolls stuffed with konjac in tomato consommé.
I absolutely adored this because the Konjac was soaked in tomato consomme which was really moreish and it had this prized Bird's nest texture which was amazing.
20160923_194808.jpg

Finished with the Fried rice with shredded silky fowl, birch seed in Chinese yellow wine.
Each grain of rice was distinct and evenly flavoured with Chinese yellow wine with fine pieces of silky fowl and vegetables.
20160923_200321.jpg

Dinner ended with a delectable dessert platter with my favourite crispy creamy taro roll that does not contain colourings and this cutest glutinous rice roll that I have ever had.
20160923_203054.jpg

It was then followed by hot freshly brewed Chinese tea which helps digestion.

From 1st September until 31st October 2016, Broadway Macau is serving 12 varieties of delectable crab dishes during this Crab Feast at different restaurants at the Broadway.
20160924_115807.jpg

Customers who orders a "Crab Feast" dish has a chance to win a Vespa scooter and a luxurious stay at Banyan Tree Macau.

For more details of the crab feast and conditions:

We tried all the different styles and it really depends on whether you like it light, plain, spicy or cooked in curry.
Now is the season for crab when they are at its best.

For curry there are three different styles: Thai, Portuguese or Chinese.

My personal favourites were the Hunan Style and the crab from Lei Ka Choi because I love spicy dishes but I also liked the King crab which was quite basic.

I was recommended this place by famous blogger siuyeadragon. He recommended the chocolate afternoon tea which I had to try because it was coming from someone who is not keen on chocolate.

Ritz-Carlton cafe is a lovely French Brasserie with black and white decor with beautiful chandeliers.

20160923_164137.jpg

We ordered the Gourmandise afternoon tea designed by guest Pastry Chef Bertrand Ducauroy and Chef Raphaël Kinimo which comes with hot chocolate topped with French whipped cream and shaved chocolate.
(Available from now until the end of the year.)
20160923_163558.jpg

Started with the hot chocolate which was served in this elegant cup with thick whipped cream on top and shaved chocolate.
The hot chocolate was extremely rich with a strong cocoa taste and a slight bitterness which was complemented nicely by the silky whipped cream.

I normally dine here for the dinner buffet which is brilliant especially the Indian section.

This time I finally got to try the breakfast buffet which is equally as good because they have an egg station just like Saffron at Banyan Tree.

20160924_095745.jpg

For breakfast, the choice is rather shockingly huge ranging from pastries, breads, Chinese, Thai, Indian, basically most of the items you would get in the dinner buffet.
The buffet area is too big and I was in a rush because I got there late so didn't take much photos of the place.
20160924_101019.jpg

As it was breakfast, I just got my usual breakfast favourites such as omelette with bacon, pancakes and pastries.
