    9ce247beccffa26696ed4ddf7fb02dcf.jpg

    a9e2995a5449a64acc6800eac50a5b26.jpg af894fe3fca1efb4f5e7c099f3529b50.jpg

    7235d338be35b3de70af028e7f3bb9d0.jpg

    Cookie & cream

    1edad5adb44243751459581cf43db7dc.jpg

接著初段水果有西瓜、提子、蜜瓜、哈密瓜、菠蘿,後來見會換上火龍果及蘋果等;臨尾還有 Brownie、Canele、很好吃的三色朱古力 (hazelnut apricot with milk chocolate, pistachio cranberry with white chocolate, Almond raisin with dark chocolate) 及紅絲絨蛋糕,非常豐富!

    b7f5803d8d5cdb3ec628c2639155dba0.jpg

    5f31fb47b6843437f69a2539c6e2a883.jpg 159935f443d9695161289db0631ff829.jpg

    2e72fb9464275b0782b94ae8265a7b3f.jpg  98360f52000e8d3abe782caa2ee3c3b4.jpg

    IMG_1160.jpg

    Miso★Crab

  4. Ever since I went to Swedish National day, I have fallen in love with Nordic food because I can relate to it.
Discovered Rye House from another Swedish event where they were doing a collaboration with the Mäckish Girls a while ago during the weekend.
After trying that, I was determined to come back to try the food from Rye House!

    0CLSZU075F05F2F778672Epx.jpg

There is so much on the menu and they have a salad bar as well.

    0CLSZZF97DE76DC9AD897Epx.jpg
    0CLSZT733485210D09FCBApx.jpg
The reason why I can relate to Nordic food is that they use a lot of bread and potatoes which is basically the same as the diet in UK.
Interestingly their snacks are really similar to us in terms of flavours and they also have this similar snack to Wotsits!!

    ==========
Started with the Egg Pie which was on my mind since the first visit!

    0CLSZPF9AED4786CDB0A06px.jpg
This was so delicious because the pastry tasted like a thin crispy Ryvita tart filled with potatoes that were silky and viscous topped with creamy egg just like the stuff you get in egg mayo sandwiches.
It is so comforting to see lots of similar ingredients like their prawn and dill filling which tastes just like our Prawn and Mayo filling but with dill in it.
    ==========
Next was the Nordic Hash (Pyttipannu) , again a really simple but comforting dish that is good on a winters day.
It was diced and fried cubes of potatoes that were fluffy and soft with a perfectly browned edge complemented by fresh organic eggs and pieces of meat.
Basically a delicious dish that you can eat all day or for brunch.

    0CLSZO0E132196C647BDB9px.jpg
    ==========
Last but not least was the Finnish Creamy Salmon Soup .
    0CLSZQ38E0586CDCB24FBApx.jpg

I loved it because it wasn't heavy with chunks of pink salmon and lots of dill.
There was a little butter in it to give it that beautiful golden glow as well enhancing the taste.
All was good and I was shocked that even their hot chocolate was so heavenly.
    Will definitely come back again.
    0CLSZRC4B225CD44860EB5px.jpg
I appreciate the them using environmentally friendly straws which are actually real plant straws.
Basically using rye straws for drinking which are biodegradable!

    59c3beb970552f0e00157d2e_medium_Bankomat_kontantcenter_helv%25C3%25A4gg.jpg

    index.pngindex.jpg

    4.jpg

    5.jpg

    7.jpg

    8.jpg

  9. suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-12-150x150.

I’m always on the hunt for a great hike that offers fantastic views of Hong Kong. I had heard about Suicide Cliff and after seeing some photos on social media, I knew I had to check it out for myself. Suicide Cliff Hike is an easy hike to get to, offers insane views of the city, and really isn’t that difficult.

There are a few different ways to start the Suicide Cliff Hike. We chose to take the longer route because I didn’t want to hurt myself trying to climb up an incredibly steep hill (when we made it to the actual cliff, we saw people who had just climbed up it. They said it was crazy and that there was no way they would recommend it). We also wanted to go on a longer hike, so it just made sense to make a day out of it.

Starting Point of the Suicide Cliff Hike Kong Kong

Head to City One MTR Station and go out Exit D. Turn left and head down Chap Wai Kon Street – cross the street at the first crosswalk so you’re on the other side. Alternately: if you’re a bit pressed for time and/or want to avoid a relatively boring 30 minute walk to the start of the hike, take a taxi to the Wong Tai Nau Bus Terminus

City One MTR to Wong Tai Nau Bus Terminus

Continue walking down Chap Wai Kon Street until you reach Siu Lek Yuen Road. Turn right and keep going. After about 5 minutes, you’ll walk under an underpass. Turn left when you exit the underpass and continue walking up along Siu Lek Yuen Road. Eventually, you’ll see the Wong Tai Nau Bus Terminus on your left. Cross the street shortly after the terminus – you’ll see a set of stairs leading up. This is where the hike starts.

Wong Tai Nau Bus Terminus to Kowloon Peak Viewing Point

After you take the stairs up, head along the path to your left. You’ll pass a building on your left and will eventually reach the end of the path. Go right and walk down the road.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-1-1024x768.

After a few minutes, you will veer left and head into a more forested area with a walking path. Shortly after, you’ll again come to a crossroads with a map at the end of the stairs. At this point, turn right and continue along the path – you’ll now be walking along a rough stone path in the forest.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-3-1024x768.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-2-1024x768.

After about 30 minutes, you’ll begin to see the path marked as “Maclehose Trail” – follow that and shortly after you’ll come up out of the forested area and onto a clear path on top of the mountain. You’ll walk along this path for a little while, but will dip back into the mountain and under some shade. You’ll also pass by a few ‘clearings’ that look similar to the second photo above. Just go through them and keep following the path.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-4-1024x768. suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-5-1024x768.

Afterwards, you’ll find yourself walking along an actual road. This road will take you directly to the Kowloon Peak Viewing Point. At the lookout area, you’ll see a gazebo. There are stairs leading up just behind the gazebo – it’s a short climb up to another view point (see second photo above). When you’re ready to move on, head along the path behind the gazebo that goes down.

    Kowloon Peak to Suicide Cliff

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-6-768x1024. suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-7-1024x768.

From here, simply follow the path until you can’t go any further. You’ll be hiking up and down a few mountains and will eventually come to a rock on your right with a great vantage point of the city – perfect for a quick photo before continuing on.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-9-1024x768.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-8-1024x768.

The peaks will become much smaller and you’ll be able to see a television and radio transmission station in the distance. Once you reach the station, you’ll walk past a helipad and around the station. Continue along the path until you’ll have to climb down a cluster of big rocks.

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-10-1024x768

At this point, you’ll come to a large rock on the cliff that overlooks the Hong Kong harbour. At first, we were wondering if this was Suicide Cliff as we couldn’t see anything else around that rock. Thankfully, some other people were there and told us that Suicide Cliff is literally just below. A word of caution: be careful when climbing down and making your way to the actual cliff – it’s all too easy to slip and seriously hurt yourself.

    Suicide Cliff

    suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-11-1024x768 suicide-cliff-hike-hong-kong-13-1024x768

Congratulations – you made it! We were lucky that no one else was there, so we were able to spend time taking photos and enjoying the stunning scenery around us. I’ve done a lot of hikes in Hong Kong, but these views from the Suicide Cliff hike were definitely some of the best I’ve seen.

Ending Point of Suicide Cliff Hike Hong Kong

After you’re done at Suicide Cliff, head back up the way you came – past the transmission tower and into the grassy path for a few minutes before you reach a fork. Turning left will take you back the way you came, so be sure to continue heading down (veering a bit to the right) the path. This will eventually take you to Fei Ngo Shan Road. Keep walking down the road until you get to the main road. Cross the main road and you can either hop in a taxi or take a minibus to Choi Hung MTR Station (the minibus stop will just be to your left).

    Journey Length: about 10km
    Total Time: 4.5 – 5.5 hours

*I followed this great route here on Google Maps

  10. Hey guys! How have you been? A lot of people have been wondering where the eff do I get the money to pay for all the fancy gyms and workouts I go to. Well, here’s what I will tell you – I’m usually not sponsored, and when I am I’ll fully disclose it. I believe in paying for things I deem worthy, and only when I try stuff for myself will I feel the pinch of pros and cons for reals.

With that said, here’s the reveal – I am self-paid on Guava Pass. (Been on the $1,588/month 3-months unlimited* classes package – you’re tied in for 3 months but you pay per month). Read on if you want the real truth. #livingmytruth

    25035872_402971296825905_443218109869640

    me @ Warrior Academy

    What is Guava Pass?

It is an aggregator of gyms around town that lets you pay one price and visit all sorts of fancy gyms. Literally the best ones in town, for less than HK$2000/month – meaning less than HK$200/class. Well what’s the catch? You only get to visit each gym 2 or 3 times a month.

I think it started out being a way for people to try out gyms, get a taste of what they offer, or for travellers who just need a couple of classes when they’re in town. But for me, it turned into a hack to save some coins.

Full disclosure of course there are other competitors a la KFIT but I find the selection of gyms on GP is better, and so the price is higher too.

    The Pros

    1. Money saved – Instead of paying $2-3000 per month for a membership at a kickboxing, or rebounding, or pilates gym, you pay almost half the price but get the same quality classes. Some of my haunts include Flex Studios, Pherform, Optimum Performance Studio, and Lemondrop Studio. I DIE for some of the kitted out vanity rooms of some places – and honestly isn’t that half the reason one would keep going back to the same gym? (minus the hot trainers)
    2. Variety – Don’t know about you, but I believe in a balanced workout as much as a balanced diet. That’s why most gyms offer yoga to counter the weight training or cardio. But with GP, I get to go the best classes, studios and instructors of my choosing. Kind of like a gym hit list if you will, that you can create and schedule your week around.
    3. Convenience – As a freelancer, I move around a lot. One week I’m mostly around Kennedy Town, the next week I may be stuck near Mongkok. GP lets me choose gyms that are convenient for me to get to instead of lugging my kit on a journey to the gym. It might not make sense for regular worker bees, but it does for me.

    The Cons

    1. Money wasted – If you don’t use your classes, you’re wasting money. If you cancel a class late, you get hit with $80 penalty. If you don’t go on at least 10 classes per month on an unlimited plan, each class you do go will decrease in value. All in all, you gotta be disciplined, or be prepared to spend some cash.P.S. you can pause your account when you go on holidays or want to take a short break.
    2. Inconsistency – Classes are harder to book than if you were an actual member of the gym. Makes sense for the gym, but probably not so much for you if you’re looking for some routine in your workout life. I probably only get to the same class once a month. Also probably won’t be able to book the same class as your friends – like I said, spots are quite limited.
    3. Discounted experience* – Gyms you visit aren’t designed for people who come and go. In all honesty, it will be harder to get to know the trainers and be a part of the communities. They might not take you seriously because they assume they won’t see you a second time. But if you’re only in for the workouts, then it probably won’t be something you see as a con.*But on the flip side I have made friends from all the different GP gyms just from one visit!
    4. Inconveniences? – There are times, maybe once or twice a month for me, where classes get cancelled because the class didn’t reach the headcount. But there are also times, where I rock up and unbeknowingly joined a personal training session because I was the only student. I’ve honestly had many a valuable lessons in pilates, weight training, functional training and more because of these accidental 1-on-1 sessions. So to me, NBD when a class gets cancelled once in a while. #yolo

    Me @ Feel Fit Factory

    TL;DR

In conclusion… I love GP. If you’re a last minute kinda guy, or moves around town a lot, or want to try out the gyms and workouts before signing up, GP is great for you. If you’re short on cash and want the full experience of boujis gyms around town, GP is probably the only way to go as well. Like of course there are cons, but you take it knowing you are also paying less for the difference.

IF you found this article helpful and want to try out Guava Pass, please do sign up via my link here and get some discounts.

Everyone who has an account gets one, I’m not special or sponsored OR affiliated. Just another girl who’s trying to earn a few free classes from referrals. If you do end up signing up through my link, I sincerely thank you in advance ?

    Till next time,

  12. I posted on my blog a while ago about my efforts to learn Mandarin. It’s really hard... but for me, it’s not just about the personal challenge of learning a new and complex language – it’s also about trying truly understand and get under the skin of a completely different culture. This is important for me because I think that learning a language is also a great way to gain an insight into the way that people think and talk about business. So, I was really pleased to be able to head to Beijing recently for a few weeks to try and give my Mandarin a boost – and I have to say it was a very productive and interesting visit.

    A tech revolution

There are many fascinating cultural differences that strike you when you visit Beijing – but I was struck on this particular visit by one overriding phenomenon – the extent to which the Chinese have embraced the QR code. While you do often see QR codes being used in all sorts of settings in the rest of the world, I was struck by just how ubiquitous the technology has become in China. In Beijing, I saw it being used for everything from renting bicycles on the street to ordering your food in restaurants – with most people using WeChat to scan the code for information.

WeChat now has around a billion users and could be described as the WhatsApp of China – and it allows not just QR code scanning but also payment using your phone and a linked bank account. Again, along with the QR code it was a piece of tech I’d heard of – but had no idea of the extent to which it is now being used in China.

    Multiple uses

Here’s a quick example – my wife, her parents and I went to a restaurant that had no menus and only one waiter for more than ten tables. This unusual set up worked like a dream however – because diners simply needed to scan the QR code on the table to access the menu, place the order and then pay the bill. It’s a nice example of just how far the QR code has permeated almost every aspect of consumer life in Beijing – but it’s far from the only one.

On the same trip, the first thing my father-in-law did was hand to me a mobile phone that had multiple apps loaded onto it that allowed for payment by QR code. After leaving the restaurant that evening, we stepped outside, found a yellow ofo bicycle, scanned the QR code, unlocked the bike and pedalled off. We then went to the San Yuan Li Market ( 三源里菜市场) to buy some fruit and veg, and used another app to scan a QR code which was taped onto a pole next to the fruit lady’s stand – once again, payment was immediate and hassle-free.

    Robert Weider - QR Bike

Simple tech, but with many applications

I could go on: everywhere, right across the city, in everything from tea shops to the local craft brewery, we were able to use QR codes to pay quickly and easily. Of course, you need to be settled in China to use them, as without a local credit card or bank account to top-up the payment the apps are useless – but the principle still stands that China has embraced this technology in multiple ways and has made it straightforward and simple to use.

So, what did I learn from the experience of using QR codes in so many different ways in Beijing? Well, firstly that often the simplest solutions are often the best – the technology behind QR codes is not new, nor is it particularly complex. The impact, for me at least, was being in Beijing and seeing the extent to which it has been implemented across almost every type of transaction you can think of.

And I think that, in many ways, that is the key to the success of any piece of technology: it has to be simple enough for people to be able to make it their own, to take it and shape it so that it works for them, whenever and wherever they need it. Because of the flexibility and adaptability of this simple technology to so many different environments – from lampposts to bikes to restaurant tables – China truly has become the land of the QR Code.

Sushi Geikan really impress me because of the decoration! It uses lots of paper artworks to decorate and it became a ‘feature wall’. It must be a ‘check point’ for this restaurant ; P

We have chosen to sit ‘Tatami’ this time, such a new experience for me as Hong Kong seldom have these type of restaurant which provide tatami to customers.

We have ordered a sashimi platter, there will be total 7 types of sashimi, and all of them are fresh!! One of the sashimi (I forgot its name) looks like a flower, beautiful!

We also ordered two Running Noodles as well because we have never tried that before. After ‘running’ and mixing with the noodle sauce, fantastic! The noodles was so fresh!!

Probably will go next time with my family J

    大年初二吃御膳 @今助日本料理
    * * * * * * * * * *

    新年伊始,大年初二跟隨家人出外走一趟,到了荃灣的D.PARK,已N年沒有踏足這地,商場翻身成為兒童專區,內裡有專賣小朋友和年青人商品的商舖、小型電動私家車、中庭空間設遊樂區「中央公園」和「鯨魚花園」等都充滿歡樂氣氛,真的很適合家長們帶小朋友來"放電"呀。

    20170129_195250.jpg
    進座後店員很快就為我們擺放好餐具、熱茶及餐牌

    說明是大年初二,各處食店當然是繼續休息,未有營業啦,難得D.PARK內有數個選擇,不外出"冒險"了,最終決定在今助落腳,晚上8時需要取票輪候呀~ 大約15分鐘後我們進座,同行家人喜歡烏冬鍋物,尤其冬天食用最佳。

    20170129_195220.jpg
    顧客大多是情侶、夫婦或年青家庭

     御膳款式多而精彩

    20170129_195319.jpg
     愛肉食者有日式炸豬扒、滑蛋豬扒或赤味噌豬扒,
    右手邊更有鍋物御膳,家人很感興趣,可惜年初二那天暫停售賣呀

    刺身、丼和壽司,以這個定價,筆者會光顧另外的魚生專門店

    20170129_195433.jpg

    望著餐牌經過一輪腦交戰,三客心水定食是讚岐風素食冷烏冬迷你北海飯御膳、讚岐風素食冷烏冬迷你蒲燒鰻魚飯御膳及讚岐風溫泉蛋撈烏冬天婦羅壽司御膳,有飯有烏冬,感覺好豐富呀。

    20170129_202353.jpg
    讚岐風素食冷烏冬迷你北海飯御膳 HK$140元

    每客御膳都包括味噌酒粕湯、茶碗蒸、刺身併盤,先來是讚岐風素食冷烏冬迷你北海飯御膳HK$140,天氣寒冷先來一碗味噌酒粕湯,先看湯色已知材料份量十足,味噌味加入暖胃酒粕,濃郁而不過鹹,內裡有豆腐皮、蒟蒻、蔥花和豆腐,喝完後全身暖和,好舒服。

    茶碗蒸內傳來陣陣香濃冬菇味道,更有雞肉,蛋夠香滑,個人感覺質地過稀,可以做得紮實一點,鹹度偏重,質素平平。

    20170129_202512.jpg

    迷你刺身分別是三文魚、鱆紅魚和大甜蝦,前兩者厚度適中,鱆紅魚新鮮軟滑,魚味不弱,三文魚無筋啖啖肥美油潤,甜蝦爽甜舔滑,蝦腦甘香。

    20170129_202444.jpg

    北海丼內容包括熟三文魚肉、爽甜生帶子粒和油美三文魚籽,顏色亮麗,味道豐富, 最重要還是材料夠新鮮吧,配合溫熱的珍珠米,太滋味幸福了!

    冷烏冬一盆份量很多,面頭撒滿紫菜,賣相精美,在旁附設專用汁料,按個人喜好隨意加入柚子皮、蔥花、薑蓉和白芝麻粒,湯汁味道即時變得精彩多層次,選用幼身烏冬,爽滑煙韌又掛汁。

    20170129_203141.jpg
    讚岐風素食冷烏冬迷你蒲燒鰻魚飯御膳 HK$140元

    20170129_203156.jpg

    另外一款讚岐風素食冷烏冬迷你蒲燒鰻魚飯御膳 HK$140元, 配菜大致與北海丼無異,只是主食轉成迷你鰻魚丼,鰻魚肉質爽彈,不算肥美,份量亦小,幸好飯粒圓潤分明,拌勻甘甜醬油,香氣四溢,挽回分數。

    20170129_202932.jpg
    讚岐風溫泉蛋撈烏冬天婦羅壽司御膳HK$135元

    20170129_202917.jpg

    讚岐風溫泉蛋撈烏冬天婦羅壽司御膳HK$135元,大顆溫泉蛋 最為精彩,烏冬選用較粗身的種類,同樣彈牙爽滑,面層鋪滿天婦羅,芝麻 和紫菜條,戳穿黏滑的蛋黃呈鮮橙色,蛋味濃郁,烏冬底部墊有醬油,拌勻所有食材同吃, 口感和味道都好豐富,美味程度是可以幻想到的。

    20170129_203400.jpg

    五件壽司分別是三文魚、吞拿魚、帶子、鱆紅魚和鰻魚,喜歡壽司飯緊緻度拿捏得好,飯粒醋味適中,當中帶子厚肉鮮甜,好吃!

    御膳還附有天婦羅拼盤,包括蝦兩隻, 體積很大,蝦肉爽彈,惟蝦鮮味欠奉,冬菇,小青椒和番薯片各一件,外層炸漿若可薄一點更好,沾些加入白蘿蔔蓉的天婦羅汁,幸福呀!

    20170129_210535.jpg

    20170129_202551.jpg
    最開心還是可以與家人至親一起過節、遊玩和分享啊?

    這兒食物價格偏高,定食或御膳大致由135元至170元,額外加一收費。欣賞是食材豐富新鮮,質素平穩,給予顧客「吃得飽」的滿足,服務是正常水平,店員會定時為客人添熱茶,加上和風格局夠光猛,食客大多是年青家庭或情侶,未見高談闊論的嘈雜感,餐桌與餐桌之間保留充足空間, 若再來這個商場,應該會再度光顧哦。

  18. The last birthday celebration for J was at Bibo where we had a tour of its art installations before our dinner! We had been to Bibo before when it first opened two years ago and decided to revisit after we had a great chat with the restaurant group's sommelier about champagne when we dined at The Ocean a few months ago. J wanted to try more kinds of champagne and his birthday coincided with the last week of the month which is when the Art Tours are offered, so we decided to sign up for it. The Art Tours occurs every last Thursday of the month at 6:30pm with no costs and it was definitely interesting to learn about the many different artists on display in the restaurant. It lasted about an hour and we walked all around the restaurant (even up to the private dining room) before making our way back to main dining for the start of our meal.

    IMG_7265-1.jpg

Coincidentally, we sat at the same table as last time right by the Invader wall.
    IMG_7260-1.jpg

The Bernardaud plates designed by Prune Nourry and JR are still a prominent part of the table decor at Bibo.
    IMG_7257-1.jpg

After J chatted with the sommelier Wallace on what he was looking for, Wallace recommended the Franck Bonville Prestige Avize Grand Cru Brut NV Blanc de Blancs ($1370) for us to try. He recommended the use of wine glass instead of the usual champagne flute to maximize the aroma and taste of the champagne.
    IMG_7320-1.jpg

Food-wise, Bibo offers a 5 course tasting menu for $1100 but we decided to order a la carte instead for more flexibility. After placing our orders, a refreshing amuse bouche with apricot jelly and almond mousse arrived along with bread and butter (one of which was a seaweed butter!).
    IMG_7281-1.jpg

    IMG_7285-1.jpg

We were treated to this off-the-menu house smoked salmon which had a subtle smoky flavor and deliciously chewy texture to go with our champagne.
    IMG_7291-1.jpg

For appetizers, J went for the Le Pate En Croute ($290) with homemade terrine, foie gras from Les Landes, pistachio and pork belly. As opposed to the soft pate spread, the pate is baked in a crust and is a very "French" dish that may not be for everyone (the people next to us only took a few bites).
    IMG_7293-1.jpg

My Le Calamar ($250) with pan-fried squid, Hokkaido scallop, chorizo, bok choy and lemon dice was solid with very safe flavors but I thought the scallops could have been more raw while the dish could have used more acidity to make the tastes more interesting.
    IMG_7296-1.jpg

Moving onto mains, the Le Bar ($480) with pan-fried sea bass, cherry tomatoes, white asparagus and Jerusalem artichoke puree was nicely executed but again the flavors were pretty safe and tasted as expected.
    IMG_7299-1.jpg

I preferred the Le Homard Bleu Roti ($730) with roasted blue lobster and seaweed butter better which was served with seasonal vegetables, salted butter sauce and triple cooked fries as the flavors were on point and the portion can easily be shared between 2 people!
    IMG_7280-1.jpg

    IMG_7301-1.jpg

    IMG_7305-1.jpg

    IMG_7308-1.jpg

    IMG_7310-1.jpg

Lastly, we had the La Fraise ($180) with fresh berries, yuzu cream, strawberry and ginger sauce, sesame tuiles and lychee sorbet to round off our meal and birthday celebration for J!

  19. Trip planning could be tiring and stressful especially for a family travelling with kids. For those in need for a short break and wanna save the hassle of planning a trip, it’s not necessary to fly off as Hong Kong has quite a few brilliant getaway choices to offer. Some popular ones are the rented houses and hotels in Cheung Chau, Mui Wo and Lamma Island, but rarely do people talk about Discovery Bay.

Here we came to Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong and enjoyed a night of staycation for the weekend. The hotel is located in Discovery Bay, a tranquil residential area on the Lantau Island, and is easily accessible by MTR with the free hotel shuttle bus pick-up at Sunny Bay station. It was a beautiful sunny day and when we stepped out from Sunny Bay station, we felt so relax as if we’re in another tropical country going on a sun’n beach trip! It’s so different from the “Hong Kong” we used to know!

    2

Hotel shuttle bus stop is outside Sunny Bay station Exit A. It is available at around every 30 mins and only for hotel guests, so get your booking confirmation ready before getting on the bus. Alternatively, non-hotel guests may take public bus DB03P from Sunny Bay station as well.

After a brief ride of 15-20mins, we arrived at the Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong!

    5

    6

It's still plenty of time before standard check-in time, why not treating ourselves a feast to kickstart our getaway? Had a lunch buffet (HK$298/adult, HK$198/child) at the hotel's restaurant, Café bord de Mer & Lounge, which offers daily breakfast buffet, lunch & dinner buffets on every Friday - Sunday, and nightly dinner buffet throughout entire month of August. The current buffet is featuring dishes cooked with fruit ingredients and unlimited glasses of Red Bean Ice (紅荳冰) to beat the summer heat!

Time to get our room after we're done with the lunch buffet. It was an Ocean Front Panoramic View Room on high floor. Wow wow wow!!! We were so astonished by the 180 degrees ocean view of South China Sea and the spacious room!! It's a genuine escape from the city life while falling asleep in a king-sized bed with such an ocean view!

"You've arrived at another side of Hong Kong" printed on the key card sleeve, couldn't agree more.

The hotel is also renowned for its one-of-a-kind wedding venue with the sleek triangle White Chapel and the exquisite European tall ship The Bounty that are hardly found elsewhere in Hong Kong. The ship and the blue sky resembled a beautiful and classic scene like the picture we used to see on puzzles and postcard!

    51

    52

    53

Same stunning ocean view can also be viewed from the town square right beside the hotel.

    54

It's dinner time when the sun went down. We again visited the Café bord de Mer & Lounge for the dinner buffet (HK$338/adult, HK$198/child) featuring BBQ skewers.

    65

    66

Stayed awhile at the restaurant even we've finished our dinner just for the 9pm fireworks at Disneyland. Yes, we could see a little fireworks from outside the restaurant!

    67

Hotel lobby at night. When everyone has gone back to room, it shows another undisturbed charm.

    69

    68

Good morning world!! Life would be perfect if we could wake up with such a breathtaking ocean view everyday...

    70

Breakfast buffet is always the best way to start a day and that's why we usually prefer to book accommodation with breakfast buffet included. :D The restaurant has a good spread of breakfast buffet with both Oriental and Western dishes.

You may DIY a set of Hong Kong styled breakie with congee, stir-fried noodles, a few pieces of Siu Mai and a Cha Siu Bao.

    71

Plus a bowl of made-to-order soup noodle from the noodle station. There are choices of noodle like rice vermicelli, egg noodle and silver needle noodle (銀針粉) to choose from, and choices of ingredients like different types of mushroom, veggie, fish/beef/cuttlefish balls, and bean curd to custom make your perfect soup noodle.

    73

    74

And/Or have a set of American or Continental breakfast with eggs, sausages, hash brown, different kinds of bread and pancakes.

    72

    75

I've never seen pancakes made by such a pancake machine!! What a great idea for the restaurant to provide fresh hot pancake without employing an extra staff at a pancake station! Haha...

    76

A breakfast could never be perfect (and not healthy enough) without fruits. And the satisfying breakfast put a beautiful end to our staycation.

    77

Last but not least, don't forget to book your seats 1 day before check-out for the free hotel shuttle bus bringing you back to the Sunny Bay station as the buses around check-out time are always full! Huge thanks to all friendly staff in the hotel who have taken care of us and it was truly a great place to unwind ourselves. If you're interested in taking a break or just spending a day with scrumptious buffet at Auberge Discovery Bay Hong Kong, take a look at their website where you will find different promotions and room packages on offer: http://www.aubergediscoverybay.com

  21. While we stepped into the new page of 2016, I believe it was still worthwhile to do a little throw-back to one of the biggest musical event last year by Hennessy because it's coming along this year!

Since its founding in 1765, Hennessy has been driven to create the world's best cognacs. In this continuing quest for excellence, seven generations of the Fillioux family have been Master Blenders at Hennessy, thereby ensuring the transmission of this precious savoir-faire from one generation to another.

Hennessy was celebrating its 250th anniversary celebration last year. Despite plans to celebrate this anniversary, its annual music-fest “Hennessy Artistry” – an innovative musical platform- was set to be a more unique celebration of the relationship between Music and the Hennessy brand as it took a new turn to re-emphasize Hennessy’s love for music hence, the theme for last year’s celebration; “Hennessy loves Music”. The event was star-studded and attended by Peter Okoye, Falz, Toni Tones, Ehiz, DJ Lambo, Saeon, Emmanuel Ikubese and more.

The creation of Hennessy Artistry Halo is based on the philosophy of “The Global Art of Mixing”; essentially the seamless blending of East & West. This is exemplified not only through the varied genres of music and the synthesis of top talents and emerging artistes.

Previous Hennessy Artistry headliners include Jesse Jagz, Nneka, Cobhams, Kas, Jude “MI” Abaga, Banky W, Sir Shina Peters, Tiwa Savage, Ice Prince, El Dee, Bez, Wizkid, 2Face and other notable Nigerian acts.

Hennessy Artistry is an innovative musical platform, launched worldwide by Hennessy in 2006 to celebrate the vibrant multiculturalism of different genres.
