This place is one of those hard-to-reach because there isn’t any nearby MTR station. We drive here on a Sunday afternoon, following the GPS and realizing that it is actually a really small fishball shop.

Selling as well grilled eel rice and Thai chicken rice, their signature is the scrambled egg sandwiches that come in a variety of filling. For example, parma ham, foie gras, minced beef, king crab leg and century egg with pork floss.

We opt for a delicious combination of grilled eel with scrambled egg. The egg is incredibly fluffy and soft, with a molten texture, sitting on a piece of grilled eel and white bread. The whole plate is sprinkled with nori powder but it doesn’t contribute much to the flavor.

There are also steamed rice rolls, fish balls and other street snacks; believe it or not, they even make their homemade milk tea and yinyang!

最近趁天氣凍返,即刻黎食呢間人人都讚既火鍋店。位於登龍街永光中心二樓,裝修懷舊,牆上掛有霓虹燈飾,枱上放有傳統既壽星公碟,藍色瓷碗,木筷子等等;餐廳仲播埋八九十年代既經典歌曲添!

酸梅湯

首先來一盤醬汁,有豉油、醋、麻油、麻醬、沙茶醬、蒜蓉、蔥花、辣椒,仲有我最愛既芫荽碎喔!寶寶就超級鍾意落蒜蓉同沙茶醬。

至於湯底,我哋揀咗「火瞳花膠魚肚雞湯」。湯頭用上雞骨、金華火腿、紅棗、杞子熬成奶白色既湯,所以味道比較鹹;配埋花膠,魚肚同魚翅,仲有半隻鮮雞,非常豐富同鮮甜,火鍋之前服務員都幫我哋「筆」咗幾碗湯飲。

我哋點既火鍋配料,「黃金麻吉燒」,原來係魚蛋包住麻薯;「麻辣湯包」,非常燙口,一咬落去會有好香既麻油且十分彈牙!

炸魚皮就吃得多,炸魚骨就真係第一次。炸得非常脆口,點點湯底又係另一番風味。可惜響鈴就唔算脆,但掛湯力係十分強既,哈哈!

海鮮方面,我哋只係簡單點咗鮑魚同蝦滑。前者好新鮮,後者加入鹹蛋黃後味道特別,質地都唔錯。仲有流心「芝士丸」同十分足料既「蟹肉蟹粉餃」,餃子皮好薄而且好重蟹膏味呀!

牛肉方面,寶寶點咗「美國肥牛」,份量足夠兩個人食,大理石紋好明顯,牛肉味都重,唔錯唔錯。

值得一提既係餐廳好盡責,用餐當日先後打咗兩次電話俾我 confirm booking。至於價錢同質素都 acceptable,值得一試喔!

最近銅鑼灣進駐一間坊間少有以蟹為主題既餐廳,位於澳門逸園中心地庫。走落一條長樓梯,黎到見一大蟹缸,有松葉蟹、毛蟹同鱈場蟹,而餐廳地方就唔算大。
晚餐主打一系列套餐,大部分都係以蟹入饌既料理,包括前菜三點,鉢碟小料理,刺身,極上海鮮,釜飯同甜品。

來到刺身五點盛,擺盤賣相精緻,松葉蟹腳非常鮮甜,赤牡丹蝦更加係入口肥美;而我個人最欣賞係金明鯛伴奇異果,呢種食法真係少食。

蟹肉蒸蛋看似簡單但好滑溜,表面既蟹肉碎,三文魚籽同高湯汁令味道更加提升了。至於是日「極上海鮮」- 雜菌芝士煮帶子,醬汁比較重口味,但帆立貝煮得好嫩口彈牙的。

「原隻蒸毛蟹」,腳同蓋既部分已經細心拆好,肉質好鮮甜,蟹膏 creamy 又非常之多,我最鍾意係隨上既海帶醋,好好味喔!

至於燒鱈場蟹腳,味道亦份外鮮甜,厚實;蟹甲羅都係人手即燒,陪上每人一件暖暖脆身既多士。

最後有「松葉蟹蟹釜飯」,先加入蔥碎,芝麻同黑松露醬,釜飯入面有大量松葉蟹肉絲,日本小蘑菇同蠶豆,香氣十足,味道唔係十分濃但就好香。

On Sunday, we pay a visit to Lei Yue Mun for walk. It is a fishing village, a quick channel between Tseung Kwan O and Victoria Harbour where is renowned for alfresco seafood dining. In short, there are a historical Tin Hau Temple, a wish tree and the lighthouse beside the harbour.

We come across a cha chaan teng which apparently has gained many reputations and is awarded for one of the best milk teas in Hong Kong.

The menu is simply about toast or instant noodle, but a few interesting options such as a french toast made with egg white and Chinese fermented bean curd. The french toast is a bit overdone, with a salty filling and topped with a slab of butter. They provide condensed milk at each table but I personally prefer adding simple syrup.

For drinks, we love the mango and yakult smoothie, very refreshing; but the lemongrass honey tastes very bland and is nearly flavorless.

For your record, they are also famous for their homemade mango pudding. Give them a try if by chance you come to Lei Yue Mun next time :)

上星期日同媽咪,男朋友去 One Island South 食飯,發現 Golden Monkey 同 Pho Bar crossover 嘅一間餐廳。 餐廳樓底好高,有梳化位、吧台、沙律吧同一個開放式廚房 – 即煮越南湯粉。

呢度係自己填點單紙既,餐牌上有泰式沙律、小食、碟頭飯;Pho Bar 既越南河粉、喇沙同幾種泰式飲品,例如泰式奶茶同珍多冰。

我叫咗一份「泰式海南雞飯」。同新加坡既唔同,唔係配黑醬油,而係雞飯醬。泰式雞飯配黄色同粒粒分明既有味雞油飯、炸蒜粒、芫荽;雞肉好嫩滑,分別係雞腿同雞胸部分。雞皮下既脂肪亦唔算多,值得一試。

另外,喇沙都超有水準,可選米粉或米線。湯底非常開胃,椰香味唔太重,辛辣度適中,淡淡蝦米香,質地濃稠。米線亦煮得剛剛好,配料有雞蛋,魚片,魷魚圈同大量豆卜,推介推介呀!

相比起銅鑼灣分店,呢度多好多薄餅同意粉款式。其中最特別既有「北京烤鴨」薄餅,用上煙鴨胸肉, 海鮮醬, 青瓜同脆脆,模仿片皮鴨既食法;另外既煙三文魚配水瓜柳比薩都用上傳統番茄醬同水牛芝士做出拉絲效果。

久違的一篇紀錄喔!講起都已經係新年前同爸爸媽媽既情人節 + 團年晚飯。
依舊係由我來揀餐廳,於是就揀左數星期前已經見佢係時代廣場開緊既摩登烤鴨大哥啦!原來係米芝蓮三星大廚「廚魔」既新餐廳,賣點就當然係北京填鴨。

平時屋企人到好鍾意食北京填鴨,所以傳統既就真係食得多啦。今次來到專程要試試慢煮版本烤鴨,鴨肉切得很厚身,油脂感重,好夠鴨香。配上店方特製既海鮮醬,酸酸有少少橙味,再包入橙色既蒸饅頭,食過不停。

媽媽話團年飯一定要有個甜美既結束,所以就叫咗媽媽最愛既「驢打滾」。呢度既驢打滾同平時既唔同,外貌似廣東點心點既兔子棉花糖,糯米皮包住紅豆蓉,鋪上白色椰絲,好可愛呀!不過媽媽話都係鍾意滾上黃豆粉暖暖地食多啲 ?

上星期初黎到熟悉既九龍城,搵位泊車既時候經過一間梳乎厘班戟店。Layer’s Cafe & Pancakes,原來係剛剛於一月初開幕既。店舖裝修以 baby blue 顏色為主,簡約設計,有個開放式廚房,見到店員即做日式班戟同整暖飲。

Ngao Keo is a local restaurant that has been popularized recently, being famous for their crab roe noodle and water crab porridge.

Needless to say, I always come to 十月初五街1號 until I realize that they actually open another branch near Taipa area. The restaurant is really spacious, with an ambience just like any normal cha chan teng in Hong Kong.

For early brunch, we order shrimp toast and a signature crab roe stirred noodle. The shrimp toast is goldenly deep fried, very crispy and serve aside a Thai sweet and chili dip.
Despite the strong alkaline flavor from the thin cut noodle, the crab roe stirred noodle is still delicious and I quite enjoy the pan fried squid cake that has been loaded greatly with fresh squid.

If you are staying at the Taipa area, this branch will be much easier to locate.

When people say they want Thai food in Hong Kong, pretty much most of us would recommend them to visit our “Little Bangkok”, aka Kowloon City. Needless to say there are many legit Thai restaurants around the area with some locally famous ones while some are more obscure, but I have come across and tried a recently opened Thai restaurant outside Kowloon City.

This new restaurant is a hidden gem at Sham Shui Po whose name literally translates as “Thai Lucky”. Having been told that the menu is created by their house chef who comes from and previously worked with hotels in Thailand, his passion is clearly visible after trying such authentic Thai dishes from him!

We begin with a huge serving of soft shell crabs in yellow curry sauce. The curry sauce is absolutely divine, creamy, thick, not too spicy but a little bit on the sweet side.

Satay skewers then followed, neatly plated and served aside a really strong-tasting and crunchy peanut satay dip. Both the chicken and beef are spot on whilst the pork is especially tender and succulent.
The prawns are halved and deep fried to golden brown in a thick batter, whereas the morning glory is classically stir fried with shrimp paste remaining crispy and fresh.

Alongside all the seafood, we also order a fried rice that has been made with shrimp paste, cured meat, eggs and pork floss, the combination of flavours is delectable.

After all, the price are very reasonable and the portion is definitely more than enough. The dinner is surely amazing and make sure to get a young coconut drink as well!

Recently being told one of the hottest places to go in Macau Peninsula, where famous for their affordable Chinese local pastries, cha chaan teng and breakfast dishes.

They have two branches, one is named after the first branch as “新鴻發” whereas the other one is separately named as “新威廉”. Both owned by the same family and serve the same menu.

Some top must-haves here would be stir-fried macaroni with sliced beef, pineapple pork chop bun and extra-thick French Toast.

The macaroni dish is sophisticatedly made with thin macaroni to replace the usual flat rice noodle. The flavor isn’t exactly impressive but the tender beef slices is worth noting.

We didn’t opt for a pineapple pork chop bun because we want something sweet to eat.
The wow-factor of the french toast is its ultra thickness, deep-fried beautifully golden brown. It has a rich peanut butter filling, topped with a slab of salted butter and a drizzle or two of golden syrup. Delicious to the max!

After all, I can tell this hidden gem is a total crowd-pleaser!

海景軒位於尖沙咀海景嘉福酒店B2層,雖然已經唔再係米芝蓮一星餐廳,但依然非常受歡迎。餐廳以金色同酒紅色佈置為主,平日夜晚黎到出奇地熱鬧,都好滿座既。

餐台上除咗擺咗豆瓣醬同辣椒豉油,仲有好野味既榨菜豆卜。由於訂位既時候已經落好餐單,所以食物都好快咁上台。第一碟位上既係招牌菜「冬坡扣釀肉」。唔係東坡肉,係「冬」坡肉;顧名思義就係用冬瓜代替傳統肥豬肉,做成東坡肉既樣。雖然冬瓜係夏天既食物,但呢個冬瓜菜式真係不得不試喔!

然後有off menu菜式「酥香蛋皇肉」,以肥豬肉卷包住鹹蛋黃再脆炸,非常腍滑;「萬壽果牛肋肉」亦非常出色,肉厚肥美,用汁拌飯真係一流,值得推介呀!另外係手工招牌菜有「欖菜玉珠」,清淡得黎又不乏味道。

當然唔少得最期待既甜品啦!黃金脆鮮奶、泮塘山楂卷、蛋白杏仁露,都是店方著名之作。黃金脆鮮奶食落似牛油多士包住煉奶;山楂卷酸酸的;蛋白杏仁露既蛋白亦打得平均;真係非常出色!

平時好少黎旺角既我,今日終於為咗我最鍾意食既小籠包慕名而來啦!黎到廣華街,真係大開眼界。呢到365日都好多嘢食,有最出名既肥姐小食店,媽咪雞蛋仔,仲有啲台灣珍珠奶茶呀,彩虹雪糕呀,麻辣牛雜呀等等,唔怪得之啲人咁鍾意黎呢到掃街啦!

今次黎到尚香,座落於廣華街既街頭,人流比較少。店名寫著 “舌尖上的中國”,似乎幾有睇頭。 店舖細細咁,但就提供四款指定點心。難得黎到不得不試佢地 signature 既巨型湯包。
蟹皇湯包用個筲箕器皿裝住,手掌size,好大個,好可愛。我好欣賞佢超多湯喔!我用飲管飲咗一啖,ummm… 覺得有少少腥,所以建議加啲醋食。個外皮幾薄,用竹籤戳穿會見到蛋黃色既蟹黃,一絲絲既蟹肉,但比例上就細啲。

哇!好熱呀!影完未呀?兩款小籠包都用紙兜裝住,所以佢話好熱… 嘿嘿。
蟹黃小籠包頭頂上面有橙色既蟹膏,好容易分辨到佢地同鮮肉小籠包既分別。兩款小籠包個摺口位好厚,但我鍾意,哈哈!
每隻小籠包都有湯,嫩嫩的,味道上就差不多,但心裡上總覺得前者好食啲。

佢仲有糯米燒賣架。但我地唔食糯米,所以就無試到嚕 :)

A trip to Seoul is not complete without a taste of soy sauce crab.

This traditional Korean restaurant, where is situated across the corner nearby Cafe Bora in Samcheong-dong, sighatures in soy marinated crab and grilled eel dishes.

It is so surprising as we enter the restaurant to see so many tourists here, and the fact that you have to remove your shoes beforehand has made it even more memorable.

The menu features just a few options, and honestly there are nothing more to remark about.
Despite the raw crab is very nicely marinated in soy sauce and has great amount of creamy roe to go with steamed rice, we loved the meaty grilled eel more for its fairly sweet teriyaki glaze.
The bibimbap also is served with an extra bowl of crab roe that makes it certainly way too indulging.

I would say it is a good experience trying with raw crabs in Korea.

等咗20分鐘,即叫即製嘅窩夫終於到啦!上面有紫薯蓉同忌廉,拌一球雪尼拿雪糕。
雪糕方面唔需要太介懷,反而值得一提嘅係用咗低脂,低卡路里嘅忌廉,好滑 ; 紫薯蓉憑顏色就知係堅紫薯,甜度適中,而且唔會有色素。重點係窩夫底加了一丁點鹽調味,外脆內軟,蛋香足夠,熱辣辣好好食,值得推介!

If you have been to COMMON GROUND in Seoul Korea, you will know what a truck market would look like.
Recently, Kai Yip Estate in Kowloon Bay has reconstructed and renewed their market into a similar concept, featuring a wet market with air-conditioner and a food terminal outside. The market very large and spacious, varieties are plentiful from seafood, meat, vegetables to groceries and ready-made meals.
Along the food terminal or so-called food street, there are many popular street food and my favourite is the steamed rice rolls that is traditionally steamed in a steam cabinet, added with egg and free toppings such as pickled vegetables, minced garlic and sweet soy sauce.
It is also my first time having this Chinese mochi made with Fevervine herb and a creamy and fudgy peanut filling.

另一份我十分推介既係「三層蒲燒鰻魚滑蛋飯」!雖然唔係好似日本個啲咁一層飯一層鰻魚,但真係有三條蒲燒鰻魚架!飯底係日本米,滑蛋份量就比較少,但都好滑;鰻魚肉厚身,燒汁落得剛剛好,配上紫菜碎同蔥粒,真係無得輸!

Chirashi, which also known as Chirashizushi sometimes, is probably one of our new food obsessions in Hong Kong. I like such kind of Japanese cuisine because it is traditionally a bowl of sushi rice scattered with cubed sashimi, meaning I can eat a variety of raw fish and vegetables at the same time.

Last week, I was walking along Lockhart Road in Causeway Bay and passed by this new donburi restaurant where instantly caught my attention – SUPERDON. It has a simple, modern and beautiful ambience, and most importantly, a bar seating that I adore.

The menu serves a vast majority of chirashi don including sea urchin with salmon roe, minced toro; donburi including tempura, grilled eel and pork cutlet with egg on rice. No worries, there are also a ton of other types of fresh fish to build your own kind of don.

Our lunch set comes with a simple salad with cubed tofu and sesame dressing, a miso soup with kelp and tofu puff. The Hokkaido sashimi don includes hamachi, salmon roe, and a piece of crab leg, we particularly enjoy the creamy sea urchin, thick and fatty toro and the scallop that has been slightly cured by the lemon slices that served along.

My favourite is the A5 wagyu beef sashimi don sourced from Kumamoto, slightly seared, unbelievably fatty, hearty and heavenly that would melt smoothly in the mouth. It is completed with a raw Japanese egg yolk, which is perfect as you poke and mix it with the rice.

The portion is considered more than enough for me, very inexpensive at lunch and trust me, the wagyu beef chirashi is going to satisfy all sashimi cravers, highly recommended!
