Dined here ages ago in the sticky hot summer but never got round to writing this because the menu was in Chinese and the ingredients were Taiwanese which is hard to review in English.

Situated on the quiet side of Prince Edward lies this very Oriental themed dessert place that could be classified as Chinese style too because of the red painted walls, lanterns and dark heavy wood tables and chairs.

00VPID9F6705B1CB86F87Bm.jpg

00VPI98274AF0DC59A23FCm.jpg

00VPIC2FAB77DFACB3EBA9m.jpg

On the menu, there were three types of desserts:

-DIY with fixed options

-Hot desserts

-Desserts with fish maw

00VPIF2B5BAE50036BB6ABm.jpg

I like the DIY desserts where you have to choose main dessert from the choice of:

soy bean dessert, black soy bean dessert, black sugar slush or grass jelly.

Then you choose some toppings ranging from lotus seeds, pearls, glutinous rice etc.

00VPIA48403D08281F4F7Bm.jpg

Lastly you choose the final topping out of soymilk, black sugar water or black sugar slush.

I decided to get grass jelly as a base.

00VPIB469DD77CA7806094m.jpg

The grass jelly here is different to the usual ones which are cut into cubes.

Here they scoop it out so the grass jelly is a big chunk!

On the table the black syrup is separate so you can added your desired amount.

00VPIH5D6B2E9D37D99B2Bm.jpg

There is a tank of hot tea which was really good because it is good having Chinese with sweet desserts.

00VPIG71ED924DDBB4B69Dm.jpg

Fish maw jelly:

00VPI71E551C81FCED9D2Bm.jpg

The fish maw jelly was really nice because it was not too sweet.

I would like the black sugar syrup to be served separately before they serve it so that I can try what it tastes like naturally without any flavourings.

00VPIE0EB1BE563897DD88m.jpg

There are pieces of fish maw in the jelly which are slightly chewy because it has been chilled.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

My DIY dessert:

Dessert base

- grass jelly

Toppings

- black sugar jelly

- wolfberry jelly

Dessert topping

- black sugar slush

00VPI82DF9D70D5D1368F8m.jpg

The dessert was divine and they gave you metal spoons just like the one above which was useful for spooning the grass jelly because the texture of this grass jelly was tougher than the usual ones.

The black sugar slush was so refreshing because it melts into a sweet liquid when you eat it giving the dessert an extra boost of black sugar sweetness.

This place has been opened for quite a while but I have never intended to dine there.

I only dined here because the place was empty and I was too lazy to go elsewhere.

00VOFTC1A5DA1B4287B9B3m.jpg

As well as Wan Chai, they have branches in Shau Kei Wan.

00VOFUA8C88A5C8A15CAF1m.jpg

Surprisingly the menu has English!

00VOFXD085C838AD13EE70m.jpg

00VOFYC85CF081481EFC4Cm.jpg

The sugar sachets were contained in a sugar lump container which was kind of funny.

00VOFZAC3A09D66C0EA0B9m.jpg

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Soup:

00VOFVC0F4045FB9DABD93m.jpg

The soup came with the rice and the seaweed was quite clean because there was no sand in it.

It was topped with crushed fried garlic and chopped parsley which gave it some smoky and grassy taste to the soup.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Ox's stomach with rice:

00VOFW9C84ED5859A980FCm.jpg

I chose rice because noodles are not filling.

Basically the rice had some tasteless sauce poured on top which made the rice wet.

The ox's stomach was tasteless as well, but after I used the soy sauce and chili oil, it enhanced the rice and ox's stomach and made it more delectable.

Overall, the food was ok, but I did not like the soggy rice so only had half of it which was a waste and I wish they had metal spoons because I can't eat with those weird shaped spoons.

Maxim's Cake Shop (Central)

Thanks to Maxim's for sending me some of their Valentines cake to try.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Rose Garden $128:

00VNXR54A36827C8E07D9Cm.jpg

This was a Pretty cake with rose patterned cream on the outside with three layers of different pink coloured cream.

00VNXO5D2D136E40EE418Fm.jpg

They give you raspberry crunchies and chocolate hearts so that you decorate the cake how you want.

00VNXS8964138B9E301106m.jpg

00VNXJ38015688CFD2E6CFm.jpg

Beneath the cream is strawberry sponge and pieces of strawberry in it.

00VNXKB1A9B60C2F056F11m.jpg

It was a nice soft cake with lots of velvety cream complemented by chunky raspberry crunchies that was not too sweet.

For those who can read Chinese:

00VNXTB8DB59B517295A90m.jpg

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Our Love Story $78:

00VNXLE6B6284182C7C911m.jpg

The packaging is really pretty and has two cakes inside:

It would be a nice surprise as the cakes are discreetly disguised in the box.

+++

00VNXM333D490D975977CDm.jpg

Strawberry mousse cake with strawberry jelly topped with three fresh raspberries.

+++

00VNXN3C0F294F4DF2FE77m.jpg

Chocolate mousse cake with crispy chocolate inside.

+++

As a girl, I liked the strawberry mousse cake because of the raspberries on top and the strawberry jelly in the middle in light strawberry mousse.

00VNXP9AC40593472DE358m.jpg

The chocolate was stronger and quite rich which would suitable for guys too and girls with a sweet tooth.

00VNXQB579EA16C0ACFC87m.jpg

Again, more description in Chinese if you read Chinese.

Wah Fung (Central)

Came here randomly and I did not realise they were specialists in roast so ordered other stuff.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Vegetarian sweet and sour:

00VMIR254619D24A7053B3m.jpg

This was monkey mushrooms coated in cornflour and cooked in the usual way to make the sweet and sour dish.

It was really nice, just like the meat version but after having a few, I got tired eating them.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Lamb stew with beancurd skin in fermented beancurd sauce:

00VMIP4AA9A95576C44C7Dm.jpg

The beancurd skin was not soft enough and the sauce was really salty.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Rice:

00VMIQ25758FEADA6A00A2m.jpg

The rice was not that fresh because it was yellow.

You could see that it was very yellow compared to the white bowl.

Strawberrymoon

Honeymoon Dessert has always been a no go zone for me because their desserts were old school style and traditional served in their signiature yellow square bowls.

00VMCE9E6C1FB7340C8995m.jpg

Basically, I don't like sweet soups, walnut purees, red beans desserts, mango desserts, dumplings so what else can I order.

The only time I tried was at their MOONnHONEY store which is a modern version of Honeymoon Dessert at Mong Kok East Station.

MOONnHONEY

http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=148752&tc=sr1

What made me walk into Honeymoon Dessert was their new Strawberry series.

I always have strawberry dessert at Chung's in Po Lam, now available at Aunt Sweeties in Tin Hau too.

00VMC728E4E3DCEDA64253m.jpg

It was nice to see Honeymoon Dessert breaking off from the traditional and serving new desserts in chic glasses and not the boring square signature yellow bowls.

I was impressed with the design of the red packets too, they used strawberries and kiwis on it.

00VMCB910895D9E393C7C9m.jpg

I tried three out of five in the Strawberry series.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Strawberry mochi:

00VMC6CF2DA5207799BD9Dm.jpg

The strawberry mochi was a little disappointing because the mochi skin was really thick and the brown filling which I thought was chocolate was actually red bean.

00VMC5A7ACDCD832AECE32m.jpg

To be honest, I think chocolate filling and strawberry would be a better pairing.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Strawberry tofu:

00VMC8DFDF31165626952Fm.jpg

The strawberry tofu was gorgeous, it had ice crystals in the sauce which is cooling and melts when you eat it.

00VMC9153253F558B7AD0Am.jpg

The strawberry icecream in the middle tasted like strawberry yoplait yoghurt.

It is probably made by the Honeymoon dessert factory because it does not taste like any other brand of icecream.

00VMCA77292718256AAD88m.jpg

The tofu was really silky but I felt that the tofu taste was not strong enough and the colour of the strawberry sauce was a bit too vibrant.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Strawberry sago:

00VMCD188DD5098FBA4191m.jpg

This was similar to the tofu but it had sago instead.

00VMCG18D3BA089B83A6A4m.jpg

At first it tasted a bit sweet but after mixing it the sweetness was just right.

00VMCC2B722E11A77DCE38m.jpg

Again, I loved the ice crystals in the dessert but the sago was too soft.

The taste of the strawberry sauce and fresh diced strawberries went well with the sago but again the colour was a bit too pink.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Grass jelly, durian in vanilla sauce

00VMCFAA00ECA7B63AF110m.jpg

Tried this because I liked the vanilla sauce, grass jelly and durian. This is probably the most traditional dessert I would ever try at Honeymoon dessert.

I liked the scoop of durian meat in the middle and the grass jelly tasted good with vanilla sauce which is better than condensed milk served at other local desserteries.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Overall, the experience was good and I liked the way they gave you a plastic spoon as well as a metal spoon because it made it easier to enjoy the desserts.

On this trip to Macau, I decided to have a luxurious trip by travelling on TurboJET's Premier Grand Class.
DSC_2592.jpg
There are selected travelling times because the TurboJETs have to be equipped with meal stations and VIP cabins.

There is a TurboJET Premier Lounge in Hong Kong where you can relax and have access to WIFI with drinks and snacks but unfortunately on my trip to Macau I did not find this lounge.

I ended up waiting in the Premier Grand Class waiting lounge near the boarding area.
DSC_2593.jpg
(photo taken inside the lounge hence the reversed wording!!)

The lounge has two areas, one for the Superclass ticket holders and the other lounge for the Premier Grand Class.
The Premier Grand Class has red carpets and white leather sofas and you are given a bottle of water when you arrive.
DSC_2594.jpg
There is a water dispenser at the Superclass lounge.

Video of the Premier Grand Class waiting lounge:
At the time of filming I was disappointed because I did not know there were two lounges.

I loved the lounge because the TurboJET staff will assist you with boarding and the Premier Grand Class passengers board last, it was fun skipping the queues to the TurboJET.
As Premier Grand Class passenger, you are seated at the front with a full view of the sea.

Video on board the TurboJET:

At the front, there are magazines.

Shortly you are served your meals, on this journey I had Breakfast.

Outback Steakhouse (Wan Chai)

Since they launched their new set lunches, I have always wanted to try it.

I regret not going earlier because some of the choices previously there have been taken off because HK'ers just usually order steaks, burgers and not the fancy choices.

The choices they had before that I would have tried were:

-Crispy Chicken Sandwich (Boneless chicken breast, breaded and deep-fried to a golden

brown. Served with lettuce, tomato, chipotle mayonnaise and Aussie Fries.)

-Tilapia with Pure Lump Crab Meat (tilapia fish wtih crab meat topped sliced mushrooms, finished with a drizzle of light lemon butter Chablis sauce. Served with fresh seasonal mixed veggies.

-Toowoomba Chicken (Sauteed shrimp and button mushrooms tossed in a tomato

cream sauce and served over grilled chicken. Served with seasonal veggies.)

-Bacon Camembert Cheese Burger (Topped with Camembert cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, pickles, crispy mushrooms, chive aioli and Aussie Fries.)

I've never been to Toowoomba before but the Toowoomba chicken sounded good.

Since the menu has changed, it made my decision easier because all those lovely choices were gone and the spicy shrimp rice was the only one I wanted to try, the rest were baby back ribs, burgers and stuff that you would normally order.

00VLUU6F609FC448A289BEm.jpg

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Soup and salad:

00VLUV894EEDE09895D9EFm.jpg

The soup was cold because there were so many bowls of soup on the table ready to be served when people ordered.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Bushman's bread:

00VLUWD976D68E2E71D271m.jpg

The bread was lovely and warm with a strong sugary taste just like black sugar bread paired with the delicious buttery sweet cream.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Spicy prawn rice:

00VLUX6796A83B14D2A54Am.jpg

The rice was a bit soft and mushy but it was flavoured with lots of spices such as cayenne pepper and paprika.

On top of the rice there were lots of deep fried julienne sweet potatoes which were very crunchy but a bit dry.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Tea:

00VLUY46B5396A1FCF1127m.jpg

The tea was horrible because I hate Ceylon tea (basically Hong Kong style milk tea) which is bitter and it was served with coffee creamer.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

The food came very slow on this visit and some of it was quite cold too.

Supreme Restaurant (Causeway Bay)

I found out about this restaurant because I went to a tasting at their MK branch.

It was so nice that I went back again.

However at this branch, they don't seem to take telephone bookings when I phoned, when I got there, they asked if I booked so I said the person on the phone did not let me book.

Anyway, I did not abuse my authority as a reviewer because I could have simply called the Manager who gave me his business card to book.

Another reviewer who also went again anonymously was allowed to book but it was before a certain time.

This time they used the portable gas stoves which were much better at controlling the heat.

00VLUP488B9BE6080CE47Cm.jpg

The amount of chicken in the pot was reasonable and it tasted as good as the tasting.

00VLUMA7DE082A7F2FE766m.jpg

00VLUOBDA898F064BE88EBm.jpg

At the CWB branch, there are more snacks such as soups, salads and fried items.

The fried fish skin were delicious, they were crispy and had a strong fishy taste.

00VLUNBFF4981E9EB0423Dm.jpg

The only thing that the MK branch fared better was the seating because it was not so cramped.

There is a two hour dining time limit that starts counting when you sit down and they will present you with the bill half an hour before it ends but you can still continue eating until time is up.

BreadTalk (Tseung Kwan O)

A new branch of BreadTalk has opened in Hang Hau.

This branch is quite small compared to the other branches.

00VLPR81FFB5542475E4ACm.jpg

Fiji custard:

00VLPT99FE7074C3C0205Am.jpg

I am quite puzzled why this is called Fiji custard because there is no custard in it nor can I find anything related to Fiji.

It was basically filled with cream and tasted like an oily cronut.

I did not like the crust because it was too crunchy.

Via Tokyo (Causeway Bay)

I tried their icecream ages ago but it seemed hard writing this up because I am not an expert on Japanese food.

00VLKT5DFC8CD7D9B2B526m.jpg

One of the Japanese owners was really nice and shockingly spoke really good English because all the Japanese people I have met, I had trouble understanding what they said in English.

While I was there, they were making dumplings for the desserts.

00VLKR9206873FD3DA335Am.jpg

Although there were lots to choose from, my favourite was actually the plain one with crispy rice only available to students.

00VLKU65A309C5475AA01Cm.jpg

I love that crispy rice which tastes like the cereal honey puffs.

Green Orange (Sheung Wan)

I was in the area during lunchtime so decided to try their lunch.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Soup and bread:

Tandoori fish, cucumber salad and roast potatoes:

00VLK1760D14EF5B75C044m.jpg

00VLK2B869FA5513675803m.jpg

The fish was really nice, heavily spiced with Indian herbs paired with shaved cucumber and quite a lot of it too.

Usually, cucumber used as a decorative item but it was nice there was quite a bit because it had a refreshing taste that balanced the spiciness of the fish.

The roast potatoes were divine because they were fluffy in the middle with a lovely roasted skin.

ViLLAGE KEBAB (Sai Kung)

Went to Sai Kung for food and dined here because no one was dining here.

You could tell that people were afraid to try the food from their reactions but after I sat down the Hong Kongers were not afraid to try because the restaurant was not empty.

Another thing that I observed is that HKers seem to be afraid of empty restaurants so when they choose their seats, they will sit near another table of diners.

In the UK, people like to spread themselves out.

I find that particularly annoying when I want peace and quiet and people have to sit nearby and yak with loud voices.

Since my last visit there are more choices on the menu.

00VLJ8C8B874CDFB801EBBm.jpg

00VLJ9B7C9BD13BD1CDEEBm.jpg

I want to try their pasta because it is probably cooked in an Indian way with spices but it was a public holiday that day, so they don't serve it.

In the end I had the Quesadilla.

There is a choice chicken or falafel but I wanted both so I had a mix of the two.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Quesadilla with falafel and chicken:

00VLJ4B58432240EFF0B61m.jpg

There was a sauce missing according to the photo, so I asked the guy and he came back with the green sauce.

00VLJ7D68E19D698CEF5EDm.jpg

I thought it was guacamole but it was Indian mint sauce.

00VLJ6A1ACA41B0B5BE206m.jpg

The salsa sauce was amazing, it was diced tomatoes and onions in vinaigrette with super fragrant cumin.

The Quesadilla was just divine because the it was crispy filled with cheese, falafel and roasted chicken, and the cheese was gooey and soft.

Chocolat-ier (Causeway Bay)

I have not been to Chocolat-ier for ages but recently I had this cute confectionary Cornetto and Chocolat-ier had it too so decided to try theirs.

Spaingo (Mong Kok)

This shop was opened last year but I couldn't find it listed on Openrice so I didn't bother listing it because quite a few I have tried to list have been rejected even though I have filled in the Name, telephone and address.

Last week it also happened, so I don't know why I bother!

Anyway, this shop is bright yellow and hard to miss.

They specialize in croquettes made with Iberian pigs 炸黑毛豬丸!!

There are eight sauces to choose from for the croquettes.

00VLFF01F16AE112C4997Fm.jpg

00VLFD177612B801474BDCm.jpg

I ended up getting the potato wedges with the gravy.

It was delicious rich gravy and the wedges were nice and starchy.

Next time I will try the croquettes (炸黑毛豬丸).

Hard to appreciate food in Mong Kok because there are too many people and smokers about and it is difficult to try and take photos.

This was the last stop in Macau before going back to Hong Kong.

I got meal vouchers to dine at Quick Rich in Macau.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com

The name and logo is designed just like a CASINO.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com

Each day, they have six different meals

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com

Each meal has a product shot for reference:

I have always wanted to dine at Morton's of Chicago but the one in Hong Kong is inconvenient and there are other temptations around the area.

Decided to dine at Morton's so that I could also visit The Venetian.

If it was not this restaurant, I would not set foot in The Venetian again!!!

The mall was extremely annoying and big, every place looked the same.

There was a shortcut via the Casino but they kept checking me for ID to prove that I was over 21.

(I was also checked at other Casinos as well :( )

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com

They had digital kiosks with floor-plans but most of them were not working.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com

(Compared to the City of Dreams, every digital kiosk worked perfectly and the place was so much more comfortable and modern).

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com

After frantically walking in that maze for an hour, I finally found it!

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic1.orstatic.

Finally sat down!!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Onion bread:

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic4.orstatic.

The onion bread was served and it was lovely and warm.

It was soft with a nice bread texture and it was slightly sweet.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Maine Lobster Cocktail:

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic3.orstatic.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic1.orstatic.

There were not many pieces of lobster but it tasted fresh and sweet which was the main thing and the meat was springy.

It tasted great on its own that I did not need to use the sauces.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Sauteed Spinach & Button Mushrooms:

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic2.orstatic.

I loved the spinach, it was not overcooked nor undercooked with a crisp crunch flavoured by the rich mushroom juices.

The mushrooms were lovely and earthy.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake:

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic4.orstatic.

The crab cake was divine, it was 100% crab meat that was sweet with a hint of natrual saltiness.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

For desserts there were so many options that they had a sample tray to show people.

On the tray, there were:

-Fresh Raspberries or mixed berries

-Key Lime Pie

-Carrot Cake

-Double Chocolate Mousse

-Creme Brulee

-Cheesecake

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic3.orstatic.

The first dessert menu they gave me had no prices, so I asked for one with prices.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic3.orstatic.

In the end I chose the souffle

Grand marnier souffle:

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic1.orstatic.

The souffle came with as bowl of sauce about the size of the souffle.

I did not use the sauce because it was really sweet and the souffle was already sweet.

The souffle was hot and foamy with a strong orange peel taste.

To be honest, I was attracted by this pearlescent ball.00VK4U3340439B6128B5F8l.jpg
I found out that this room was used for Japanese tea ceremonies so I booked the tea ceremony to experience this lovely tea room.

When I arrived, I was given a sheet of instructions about the tea ceremony and how it is conducted.
Macau_200114-220114+%2528317%2529.jpg

It does not matter if you don't read it because the Japanese lady will instruct you again inside.

00VK4V98E6FD5EA7FC5928l.jpg
After you have read the instructions, you are given some Japanese wagashi before going in the room because the tea is going to be bitter.

00VK4QF5BB4EF877B87F77l.jpg
I found the wagashi a bit sweet, one of them had red bean puree and the other tasted like compacted sugar powder.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Entering the tea ceremony room:

00VK4T56F01898B0820C40l.jpg
00VK4SC8F4197CFA099BD2l.jpg
Before you enter, you have to wash your hands using the Japanese bamboo ladle.

00VK4P6179B7AD6A3009B8l.jpg
When you get inside, there are some Japanese teaware.
00VK4RD27FADB165C24F97l.jpg
When you are inside comfortably (I actually found it uncomfortable because I can't cross my legs or kneel properly).
proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com

To see a video, scroll down to the bottom.

The Japanese lady starts the tea ceremony and makes you a cup of tea which you drink.
00VK4OEB9BAF2DE69DCA32l.jpg
She will then pass the bowl to you which you turn clockwise and then drink it.
When you drink it, she will instruct you to make some noises when you drink.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F1.bp.blogspot.com

After you have finished, you wipe the bowl with your right thumb and then use the tissue provided to clean it.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com

Lastly, you turn the bowl over to appreciate it.

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Japanese tea:
I found the Japanese tea quite nice, it was much nicer than the bitter ones because it did not have any grassy taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Then it was my turn to make some Japanese tea. The green tea powder has already been placed into the bowl, so all you have to do is get some water from the container and pour it in the kettle and get the water and pour it in the bowl.
proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com
After I did that, I had to mix it with their special Japanese tea brush.
proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com

Japanese tea (MADE BY ME):

proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com

I did not mix it too well and put too much water because it tasted quite bland.
The temperature of my tea was much hotter so I preferred the one she made.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

When the ceremony is finished, you sit outside and have a last cup of tea.
proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com
You can also take more photographs outside the room as well.
proxy?url=http%3A%2F%2F3.bp.blogspot.com
The tea ceremony costs MOP230 plus 10% service charge and lasts for approximately 40 minutes.
Available from 1500-1800 (Tuesday to Sunday)
Advance booking is required.

Spicy Andong (Causeway Bay)

Thanks to Gary for bringing me along to this tasting.

This is a new branch of Spicy Andong because they have another branch in Mong Kok where the interior is really cool. They have padlocks hung on the walls and cute message cards attached.

At the Causeway bay branch, they also have these message cards and colourful interior.

00V084CFBC585036568847m.jpg

Anyway here was what we had:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Basically for Spicy Andong chicken there is one with oyster and one without.

Spicy Andong Chicken:

Tasted quite similar to the one below but the taste was less fancy without the oysters but the spiciness was still there.

Spicy Andong chicken with oyster:

00V07WAD31A58CBE56BE18m.jpg

To be honest I prefer the one with oyster because there are more flavours in the dish and the oysters were plump and huge!

To begin with the oysters were quite spicy, but after a while they get even spicier after absorbing the sauce.

Luckily they offer a non spicy version.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Collagen salad

00V07Y3115550CB1E061F1m.jpg

This salad is called a collagen salad because it has slices of pork trotters which are rich in collagen.

I liked the cool crunchy lettuce leaves tossed in tangy sesame sauce which is perfect for soothing the palatte after some spicy food.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Curry Toppokki with cheese

00V07V39D86ECDB5C3B184m.jpg

The curry toppokki was really cool because the usual sauce is spicy and not many places serve it in curry sauce.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Steamed pork with spicy garlic sauce

00V080C02F875CBFE1182Fm.jpg

The sauce looked innocently refreshing but it was devilishly hot!!!!!!

So beware!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Grilled beef on lettuce

00V08134522C743D0962DEm.jpg

Nice chunks of beef paired with spicy kimchi.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Cheese and spicy minced pork pizza

00V07X4053F7ABE0942B6Cm.jpg

The English menu does not indicate how spicy it was but this was another super spicy one!!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Clams steamed in jinro

00V07U387A39396BDEC56Dm.jpg

I loved the golden metal teapot because you can pour soup out from the spout without the contents coming out.

It would be good if the alcohol taste was stronger.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Pan grilled eel

00V0826CD3734D9E3292D7m.jpg

A lovely plain grilled eel which lets you taste it in its most natural form.

The suggested way of eating it is putting the eel on the lettuces leaves with the sauce provided.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Pan grilled ribs

00V07ZFC2CBF74CEC8CA95m.jpg

Nicely pan grilled ribs which were thinly sliced.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

To To Bibimbap with onions and egg

00V0834949C4D25B7A7BB5m.jpg

This was my favourite because most bibimbaps come with kimchi and meat, but this was plain rice, egg, onion and seaweed.

After mixing it, the rice and onions were really fragrant. There is an extra side of finely chopped onions which had strong sesame oil in it which I added as well and it tasted so much more nicer.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Brown rice milk

00V07T98B516744C108E62m.jpg

The rice milk was lovely and not too sweet with a delicious roasted rice taste.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

On each table, there was a pair of scissors for the noodles which came in handy for cutting other pieces of food too.

The Salted Pig (Central)

Thanks to Try it for holding this dinner.

It is a system that matches tryers to buyers, as well as restaurants they also feature snacks and drinks to try.

00VJ9557444EEE08B561C4m.jpg

Since my last visit, there is a new British Chef Anthony Fletcher on board and the dishes tastes so much better.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

The salted pig board:

00VJ93DF033C949879A08Fm.jpg

As you can see the scotch egg was decent and better than my previous one.

I did not even get a whole one last time, it was just half an egg covered in coating and the egg yolk was a bit hard.

The bacon was smoking, yet it was nice and crispy.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Pancetta scallops on peas and broad bean hash with cider dressing:

00VJ94C491B402E01AEAB8m.jpg

This was my favourite especially the peas in creamy cider dressing.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Grilled romaine lettuce:

00VJ9155CC07704FCE1B48m.jpg

The grilled romaine lettuce was uniquely done, it was a whole lettuce cut in half and grilled flavoured by the anchovies on top.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Crispy fried chicken:

00VJ926FA85D33855D6E06m.jpg

When it came, you could already smell that Southern coating on the fried chicken.

Luckily I got the chicken thigh which was tender and the coating was tasty and crispy with a hint of spicyness.

Hana-Musubi (Admiralty)

00VJ558A6B4DEEE7DD907Cm.jpg

Had a coupon to redeem a musubi set which includes two musubis and a side dish.

00VJ56F73227DB1D8FA937m.jpg

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Beef musubi:

The beef musubi was very satisfying because the beef was nice and meaty giving the rice plenty of flavour.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Sakura shrimp musubi:

The taste of this was lighter than the beef but it was nice because there were lots of delicate dried shrimps in it.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Beef:

This had to be heated up and the potatoes beneath it absorbed the beef sauce so it had a rich beef taste.

Dumpling Pro (Wan Chai)

On my last visit, I only tried the apple fritters (but see ping gwoh) because I had a tasting afterwards.

The menu had quite a lot of nice items so went back for it.

00VJ4K9A439489736A5E8Fm.jpg

00VJ4L40C074003D81A329m.jpg

It seems that their food is quite authentic because there are a lot of mainlanders with a strong Northern accent.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Tomato and egg noodles:

00VJ4ME4D13AACE8596770m.jpg

The tomato and egg noodles were rather disappointing because the noodles were too soft and tasteless and the tomatoes did not have any taste at all.

They were not even sweet or sour and all you could taste was the fried egg with a panfried taste.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Stir fried chicken with leek and cumin:

00VJ4NA8E3EAC19E7C4EC5m.jpg

This was delicious, sweet leeks and tender chicken pieces spiced with fragrant cumin.

It was quite salty so I had to have it with rice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Apple fritters:

When you order them, the waitress goes out to buy the apples, so if you prefer green or red apples you can tell them when you order before they go out to buy them.

I felt sorry for the waitresses who were just doing their jobs chasing up the desserts because they got shouted at by the chefs.

The whole restaurant was waiting for dessert, so the Chefs did the apples and bananas together.

00VJ4OBCAFC29F6D59D6B8m.jpg

That night, the Chefs were too busy cooking, so after the apples and bananas were fried, the waitresses had to do the final part and dunk the pieces of apple in syrup and then into iced water.

00VJ4P8C5993C0DC6CABFCm.jpg

00VJ4J611BEC7ADAAF1866m.jpg

Although it was not solely done by the chef, the apples were really nice because they were piping hot and tart complemented by the caramelized sweet batter coating.

I was quite lucky and found a piece of banana in it too so I got the best of both worlds.

Most of the diners who were waiting quite a while for the desserts were given soy milk because it took so long.

Bubbles Sushi (Wan Chai)

Bubbles sushi offers all you can eat and there is no time limit which is why the price per person is slightly higher.

The staff in general are quite nice and patient except for one depending on her mood.

Quite a lot of people celebrate their birthdays here because they will play the Happy birthday song and serve a sushi birthday cake and take a photo for you which is ready to take home that night after the meal.

That night I went, there were at least four tables having birthdays there.

00VJ0XA503C04A6B28C702m.jpg

The range of sushi is impressive and they even have sushi with truffle and grilled flounder fish edges with salt.

For dessert, the range was a bit weird especially the fried mozarella sticks and sweetcorn puffs.

For the fried items, the deep fried octopus mouths were my favourite.

In the meat section they have grilled lamb, stir fried bittermelon with pork.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Grilled items:

00VJ1435697578748C8DEAm.jpg

This was grilled chicken liver and sweet potatoes.

The chicken liver was a bit raw and tasted a bit bitter and the sweet potatoes were cute but too sweet.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Sashimi:

00VJ15A5D23D1F65A5A579m.jpg

A nice variety of sashimi.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Truffle sushi:

00VJ1614F31FCA624437B4m.jpg

This was my favourite because the scallop sushi was topped with truffle and each one is shaped into a tiny ball of rice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Baked crab shell:

00VJ11A7086FDD36C53435m.jpg

Beneath the grilled cheese, it was creamy crab and vegetables.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Baked oysters:

00VJ131614B290B03BEBA9m.jpg

I did not like it because I don't like Japanese mayonnaise.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Stir fried beef with bittermelon:

00VJ175776A95231427724m.jpg

A Okinawan dish but the pork was too fatty.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Fried items:

00VJ10DF9348DFB8633881m.jpg

My favourite fried octopus mouths.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Japanese congee:

00VJ120A532C587935AE1Fm.jpg

The congee was quite interesting because the texture was different as it was cooked with Japanese rice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Ice cream mochi:

00VJ18BCE5065D5B149E7Am.jpg

Individually wrapped.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Cream puffs and strawberry swiss rolls:

00VJ0Y3F95FE07A7DEB392m.jpg

I preferred the rolls without the sauce because they were sweet enough.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Fried mozzarella sticks:

00VJ0Z22753E5662CB6379m.jpg

These were weird!! They were savoury Mozzarella sticks drizzled with that strawberry sauce again and dusted with powdered sugar!
